Welcome back friends! Time to linkup and share your posts on faith, marriage, motherhood and homemaking. 🙂
I hope you had a great weekend, I know we did, a short visit from a brother and his wife was fun. 🙂
Sunday marks 1 week since I went off of dairy. Kolton has been pretty colicky for a long time and I finally decided that I needed to make a diet change. I knew there was a happy little boy underneath all those tears, I just had to find him.
I keep screwing up and eating stuff that has a bit of dairy in it, but overall, I’ve eliminated most of it. By Thursday I was already seeing a difference. He rode home from work and was awake but not screaming. Normally the only times car rides were scream free was when he slept.
So no screaming in the car, a lot more relaxed and MUCH more smiley. I think I’m finding that happy little boy that I knew was in there, and that makes it all worth it!!!
Today’ features:
At Heart of Deborah I read about choosing joy. She gave us five things to consider when Choosing Joy. I found it very encouraging and uplifting to read. All of her points were spot on, and I could clearly see that times when I wasn’t happy, had more to do with my choices than my circumstances.
At Purposely Frugal I read about God using you right where you are. Bloom Where Planted is easy enough to say, but a little harder to do. Her post sorta hit the nail on the head for me. “These situations reveal that I really don’t trust Him and in my prideful arrogance I think I know best.” A great read to start out your week with!
Thank you for hosting this link-up, but more importantly, thank you for the light you are shining on this beautiful calling of wifey-hood & motherhood. You are truly a blessing and I always leave here refreshed and encouraged. Have a wonderful week, Kendra!
Hi Kendra!! I always love hearing how you are doing with Kolton either here or on FB. You make me think back to when I had babies. One of mine was colicky but I never admitted it then because I didn’t want to complain. You aren’t complaining and I love what you share about your diet. Thanks so much for hosting so faithfully.
Thanks Judith. I guess I don’t see it as complaining either. It’s just life and I feel so bad for him when his tummy hurts, after all it’s my fault because I ate something that didn’t agree with him. Like Friday night, I ate shrimp with cocktail sauce and he screamed all day Saturday. Apparently he cannot have horseradish either lol.
It’s just life but oh so rough on these little ones, and we mommas have to figure out what’s bothering them.
Am glad that you were able to figure out what seemed to be causing the problem and glad he is doing better! I am gluten-free, soy-free and dairy-free. Fortunately they’ve come a long way and they have dairy-free cheese, yogurt, milk, whipped cream, ice cream and even dairy free sour cream! Yay! I had dairy-free “ice cream” for a treat tonight. Thanks for hosting today!
Thank you so much for featuring my post about choosing joy. Have a wonderful week 🙂
Great post.
I am off to read Bloom Where You Are Planted. I have a nagging feeling I need the reminder.
Blessings,
Em
Thanks so much for linking me! 🙂
Kendra – I am sooo glad that you made the change and that you are seeing results so quickly!! 😀 What a blessing that is! I still remember those days with my now 7 1/2 year old daughter. I’m so glad your sweet boy is feeling better. You’ve been in my thoughts and prayers.
Thanks Jennifer, 🙂 He still has his moments and those moments are usually ah-ha moments to me, “oh! I ate onions last night… Oh, there was garlic in that dish…” Anyway, quite a few foods are getting elliminated from my diet, but since I see a pretty steady improvement in how he feels I’m okay with it!
I completely understand that feeling as well! Mandie nursed for 4.5 years, during which we ended up having to eliminate around 18 foods including gluten, dairy, soy, peanuts, shellfish, coconut, sunflower, etc. And yes, with each one we saw more and more improvement in her mood, skin, breathing, ability to learn, to potty train, etc. At 7.5 she’s up to 26 foods that she’s allergic to. I will be praying that he outgrows his sensitivities!!!
