Back around Christmas time, we made a batch of cookies, that we are still eating on! I thought you would be interested in the Monster Cookies recipe!

Why are they called monster cookies? Well, they are big, and the recipe makes a big batch. If you don’t believe me, just realize that I cut the recipe in half before I posted here!

Monster Cookies Recipe.

Monster cookies recipe

Ingredients:

6 large eggs
2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 lb. Light brown sugar
1 1/2 teas. vanilla
4 teas. baking soda
1/2lb (2 sticks) soft butter
1 1/2 lb chunky peanut butter
9 cup quick oats
1/2 lb chocolate chips
1/2 lb of peanut M&M’s

In a large mixing, stir together the eggs, both the sugars, vanilla, and baking soda. Then stir in the butter and peanut butter, followed by the oats. Lastly, stir in the chocolate chips, and M&M’s. Let the dough rest for 30 minutes.

Drop the dough by 1/4 cupfuls onto baking sheets. (If weighing, each ball of dough should be approx. 2.5 oz or 70 gram). Use your fingers to flatten the dough balls slightly. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the cookies are golden brown.

Cool on a rack and then store in an airtight container at room temperature. They can also be frozen for several months and will still taste nice and fresh when thawed and slightly warmed.

This is a large recipe, and I’ve never been able to get an appropriate count for how many cookies this makes. But if you make them the large size you should get at least 6 doz and if you make them in tbs. size balls like I do, you should get close to 10 dozen. Of course, all of this depends on your ability to resist eating cookie dough!

If you want to print out the Monster Cookies recipe, you should be able to do so using the print button at the bottom of this post. If you don’t want to look for the button, here is a printable you can use!

Peanut free version:  Use regular M&M’s instead of the peanut ones and substitute sunflower butter for peanut butter. The cookies were a bit dryer when I made them this way but still tasted great and the kids with peanut allergies loved them!

I’ve made these a time or two, and they are so yummy! As a matter of fact, just a couple of weeks ago, I purchased some more m&m’s at the bulk barn to make another batch of these!

I will for sure be trying these. Matt and I love peanut m&m’s and I have never tried a cookie recipe like this, so I can’t wait to see what they are like. I must confess I am a cookie dough snatcher (love that stuff), but at least now that I am getting older, I usually only eat one large spoon of it. 🙂 A recipe that makes this many will also be good, as anytime I bake, well you should see how the men in the family eat the stuff up. I can make 2 dozen cookies and they will be gone in 24 hours.

Thanks for sharing this recipe. I confess though, that I am not a cookie baker. I have trouble leaving them in for the appropriate amount of time, they tend to get a bit burnt, because when I look at them, I am always afraid that they aren’t done enough. Also, it seems so time consuming to bake sheet after sheet……so I am a hard core bar cookie only kind of girl (at least when it comes to making them….I happily eat individual cookies that other folks have made.) Our youth group does cookie baking ever year for a fund raiser – this looks like a great recipe to try!

This is seriously the only cookie I will bake because of that! Growing up, I ruined so many batches of cookies because I over or under cooked them. My brother eventually took over cookie duties! 🙂
With these cookies I bake them the exact time and them take them out. They are better if they are a little gooey. 🙂 And I will admit to being lazy and just spreading them in a pan to make bar cookies out of them too 🙂 It still makes a lot of bar cookies lol

They look yummy. Seriously, the original recipe called for a dozen eggs? That is crazy!

Lol. Yes it takes forever to bake all those cookies and I don’t know if you are familiar with Tupperware’s largest fix-x-mix bowl, but that thing is huge and it would be clear full of cookie dough!

Thanks for the recipe, these sound delicious! I have to bring snacks for a bunch of teenagers this weekend, I think I will try these on them.

These look amazing! Love that I can freeze them (although I have a feeling there will be none left to freeze)

If you have kids, it’s likely there will be none to freeze!

What fun cookies! I like how you used peanut m&m’s – usually recipes just use the plain. 🙂 Stop on by and share this or any other recipe with us on Five Friday Finds if you get a chance (open until Wednesday midnight)!
