I am a big fan of pies, and to me, it isn’t a holiday with out one! But what if you didn’t have time to bake a pie? Enter the Mrs. Smith’s Signature Deep Dish pies!
I was sent four coupons for each of Mrs Smith’s new pies, with the instructions to pick them up at the store and try them out. There are four kinds, Peach, Pumpkin, Cherry, and Apple. Walmart carries Mrs Smith’s so that’s where I went two days before Thanksgiving. Apparently I was not the only one who wanted pies. The peach was sold out! However I did get the other three.
One of the first things I noticed on the box were the words “Made with real butter” Yes please! I prefer whole foods to anything else. We baked the pies and oh, the house smelled so good! When they came out of the oven I was pleased, they looked just like a pie that I would make.
The really fun thing about these pies are the toppings that come with each one. The peach and pumpkin both have a cream cheese topping, the cherry has a dark chocolate topping, and the apple has a crumb topping which goes on while baking and then after it’s cooled you add a caramel topping.
I took these pies to our family gathering and figured it would be the true test. Would Mrs Smith’s pies be as good as the homemade ones we were all used to?
Pumpkin Pie with Cream Cheese
I don’t believe I have ever had a cream cheese topping on my pumpkin pie. It was delicious! Hubby’s favorite pie is pumpkin and he couldn’t get enough of it. In fact he tried to hide the pie so there would be leftovers for his lunch! Grandpa disliked the ginger in it. But that was the only complaint from any-one.
Apple with Caramel Topping
Have you ever had one of those candles that smelled like caramel apple pie and it smelled good enough to eat? When I first took a bite of this pie I immediately thought of those candles. It tasted soooo yummy! The only thing was, we took it out of the oven to soon, so it didn’t get completely baked. Oops! Very good pie, not too sweet and just the right amount of caramel.
Cherry Pie with Dark Chocolate Topping
This one took the cake, or should I say pie? 
I loved it, the almost bitter dark chocolate and the sweet/tart fruit… Yummo! This is the only one that completely disappeared as well.
Final thoughts: These pies run about $5 a piece, and I know that next time I need a pie in a hurry, rather than stay up late and try to do it all myself, hubby will get sent to the store.

If I win the gift card it would be difficult to decide for one thing cause I was just visiting the william sonoma web page and oohh there are a lot of things I see that I can use in my kitchen… but I would say maybe the Three Tiered Oven Rack, think of all the time I could save!!!

I love pumpkin pie but it has to be plain or whip cream. I am not opened minded about any other toppings, lol! If I win the giftcard, I want to add a new pan to my collection!

Do I have to choose? Pie is my favorite dessert and with those yummy pictures it is hard to decide. If I must (sigh
) I would say the Cherry pie. With the gift card I would probably get bakeware (cake pans and muffin pans, etc) , because that is something Matt and I don’t have for married life yet !
