Today I feel so blessed to have Misty from Simply Helping Him on my blog. She blogs about faith and family. She always challenges me to be a better wife, and I love her blog.
Speaking of her blog, I am over there today talking about laughter in marriage. So after you read what Misty has to share here, maybe you wanna pop over to her blog and see what I’m up to?
Taking the Time
Lately time has been flying by, each day is gone before it has begun it seems. As I’ve been tucking my kiddos in bed, I’ve thought “What did I do with you today?” More often than I’d like to admit, the answer did not please me. I’ve felt very inadequate and a failure as a mom.
With each day comes a job, a list of things to do, cleaning that must be done, as well as cooking. Yet something must give. Time must be made. Time is slipping away through our fingertips, our children are growing up and we are missing so many things.
Where do we begin? How do we ensure we’re taking the time ~ spending time with our children?
This week I have been working hard to ensure I have time with them each day.
I always have an ever increasing list of things to do. Homemaking, homeschooling, daycare, blogging, etc. create quite a list!
Each day I have begun my day by making a list of things that have to be done that day. As I complete one thing I cross it out! That is always very satisfying for me!

As I cross off one thing from my list, I stop and find one of my kiddos. We either play a game; do an art project, or something together of their choice.
This has worked exceedingly well so far! I am greatly encouraged and feel must better as a mom!
I find I have not only ensured I have time with my kiddos each day, but also I complete my entire list of to do’s as well!
I am sure to not make my list overwhelming, just realistic. I want to ensure I get all of the items done, while still taking the time with my kiddos several times throughout my day.
Time with my kiddos is more important, than a spotless house, or bakery items in my kitchen. This time is precious and slips away all too quickly.
I encourage you to take the time today, and throughout the week to spend quality time with your kiddos. Often a card game, coloring or reading together means much more than we realize!
As you take time to spend with your kiddos, I believe you will find that you enjoy your time with them. It will possibly become more important than you even realize! Your relationship with your kiddos will strengthen and it will become precious to you!
How do you take time to ensure time with your kiddos each day?

Hello, my name is Kendra. I am married to an amazing young man
named Jason, whom I lovingly call hubby when I’m writing. The only way I could ever explain our relationship is to use words like: crazy, silly, funny… well you get the point. He’s perfect for me!

Great post!!
The sad part is that many don’t realize that time has gone until it’s to late. It’s awesome how you have incorporated time with you kiddos in between things, another ways is to include them in the list or incorporate them in some of our tasks, regardless of the way I agree with your statement.
“Time with my kiddos is more important, than a spotless house, or bakery items in my kitchen. This time is precious and slips away all too quickly.” If we would all stop for a moment and take a look at the important things (our family) we would thank God for them and try to spend more time doing things together.
Thank you.
Absolutely Jay, I love her idea and hope to remember it when we have kids.
It is a daily task to work at taking the time. I am not always perfect in doing so, but I strive to remind myself daily that my kiddos are more important that most tasks at hand. Thank you for stoppin by! Blessings!

This is a great idea Misty! I’m gonna try that. Because usually as long as he is happy, I just keep plugging through my list!

Yes, it is easy to keep going when they are happy, but that is the greatest time to stop! For then you see the smiles on their faces that you took the time to come spend time with them, even when they are content!
Blessings friend!

It is very hard to balance everything, I think that’s why taking one thing at a time and then spending time with them makes your tasks less daunting. Thank you for stoppin by! Blessings!

Love this idea! And I imagine my kids would love it, too, just as yours do.
