Easy Way to Clean my Crock-Pot

Easy way to clean my crock pot

I’ve been trying out a number of crock-pot recipes, and maybe it’s just me, but I have the worst luck with food burning around the top. It doesn’t burn anywhere else usually, but the top part is a mess.  Now the whole point of using a crock-pot is to save time. But how much time are you saving, if you spend 20 minutes scrubbing the pot? I needed an easy way to clean my crock-pot. After trying a few experiments, [...]

Meatloaf Wraps ~that is, Last Night’s Dinner

meatloaf wraps

I made meatloaf the other day, and we ate it for two meals. No kids means a lot of leftovers for us. Then the remaining meatloaf sits in the fridge for three days, not enough for two people but more than enough for one. Then, as I am making a fresh batch of tortillas, inspiration strikes! Easy peasy, meatloaf wraps! I put a tortilla in a pan with hot butter. Added a slice of cheese and some crumbled up meatloaf.  [...]

Quick Tip Tuesday. Cooking Pasta

oil and pasta

Today’s quick tip is how to cook pasta with out it sticking together.  Nothing is worse than draining that pan of cooked pasta and finding clumps of pasta sticking together that didn’t get cooked through. There is a very simple remedy for that. Pour about a tablespoon of oil into your pan of water. Lovely picture right? Once the water starts boiling the oil mixes with the bubbles on top and as you slide your pasta into the pan, the [...]

Chipotle Strawberry Jam

Chipotle Strawberry Jam

Last week at a blog hop I came across the most delicious sounding recipe ever!  It was for  Chipotle Strawberry Jam,  it sounded so good that the next time I went to the store I bought strawberries to make some. I ended up with about 8 pint, I say about because I kept “sampling” while I was making it.   It ended up a little sweeter than I like jam to be, so next time I will not use so [...]
