The Man on a Mission
There were people in front of me and people behind. A ridiculously long line for a simple gas station. It wasn’t going to mess with my mood, the day held to much promise for that. But the others, were quiet. Wrapped in their own thoughts.
Out of the corner of my eye, I see some-one walk in and do this little two foot shuffle and spin. Immediately my brain thinks perhaps he is a little mentally slow. I mean, do “normal” people really do that? Then I hear “What a lovely day!”
Now I do turn around, right along with every one else. Standing at the end of this monstrous line was a young man with a huge smile. I quickly realize that he is NOT slow, in fact quite the opposite. You see, he was a Man on a Mission!
The day held promise of great beauty. The clouds from the night’s storm were being blown away and the sun was making the fall leaves glow. This young man had noticed the beauty and it must have put joy in his heart.

Immediately after the loud proclamation of the lovely day, every-one’s faces reflect the smile on this young man’s face. Almost as one person we agreed with him. “Yes it was beautiful!” He goes on and says, “I couldn’t ask for a better day to be working on a roof”. Several people smile and nod and a couple others chime in what they would be doing.
As more people come in, this young man on a mission greeted them all. Putting smiles on the faces around him. As I pay and turn to leave, he says to me, “You have a great day!”
This young Man on Mission put joy into the hearts of those around him. Whether he realized it or not, his mission was to share the joy in his own heart.
It got me to thinking about myself. As Christians do we not have joy in our hearts? Joy that we have been forgiven and have this amazing hope of eternal life? Yet, so many times we walk around, so caught up in the cares of this world that the joy in our hearts cannot be seen, much less shared.
So my little note to myself and to you is this; Let the joy of the Lord shine forth out of your hearts. So that when people see us they will know that we too, are on a mission. To share and spread the joy of the Lord far and wide.
Have a wonderful joyful day my friends!

Hello, my name is Kendra. I am married to an amazing young man
named Jason, whom I lovingly call hubby when I’m writing. The only way I could ever explain our relationship is to use words like: crazy, silly, funny… well you get the point. He’s perfect for me!

We should try to spread love and joy to those around us. If more people did that, wouldn’t the world be a happier place?!

Your description made me smile, and so, this young man’s mission is continuing, through you, across the miles, long after his two-foot shuffle has ended. Joy — it is the gift that keeps on giving. Thanks for sharing it today. Lori, from Be Not Weary

Oh yes, I would like to be a woman with a mission and spread the joy of the Lord that is in my heart every day!!! I’m getting better at it I believe but still need to improve. My face is naturally what in filipino is described as “mataray” or snobbish so I need to be very conscious of this! Patsy from HeARTworks

This is a lovely post. A similar thing happened to me today. A man jumped on the bus and said ‘It’s a girl!’. The whole bust broke into spontaneous applause.
Oh my goodness! How fun!
