Hello! I did not forget my promise to post a home tour of our new (to us) home. We may have already lived here for a year, but it’s still hard to believe that after years of hard work and saving, we have our dream home!
If you missed the story of how God brought everything together perfectly for us to buy this place, you may enjoy reading the story of how we found our dream home.
According to county records, our home was built in 1935 and it’s definitely got some quirks. But as Jason and I are pretty quirky ourselves, the house suits us perfectly!
So let’s get started! Here’s the house as you are pulling in our drive.

The drive leads up to a 2 car garage that still needs some work but we can park in there and that’s very nice.

Off by itself is another single car garage that is pretty nice and we use it for storage, lawnmower, and other stuff.

Directly behind our 2 car garage is a small barn that definitely needs work and hopefully soon will become home to chickens.

Our property is just over 6 acres, most of which is overgrown with trees and underbrush. It’s a work in progress, but how fun for our growing boys!
We are fencing in a small section of our backyard. It’s taking a while since Jason is doing it himself between everything else that needs to be done around here.

You can see the boy’s door open on the right. Let’s peek in there.

The older 2 boys (3 and 5) both still sleep on crib-sized mattresses in this bunk bed so it looks rather small in the room. I know as they grow, the room will likely shrink a bit!

We had a few logs milled awhile back and this was a slice from an old cedar that stood dead for years before Jason dropped it. It makes the neatest light don’t you think?

And that’s it! Our new home in lots of photos.
As you read, we have lots of projects planned for the place, but as with all good things, they take time. π And older homes have lots of projects and ways to suck time and money right out of ya. Ha-ha!
What do you think? Quirky (we think so)? And what was YOUR favorite room or feature of our dream place?

I love your new home. It’s so warm and inviting. Thank you for the lovely tpur.
Oops! That should say “tour”. My nimble fingers are quick to hit “post comment” before checking my spelling. Sorry about that.
I love everything you have done!! Itβs beautiful ! Thank you for sharing. Makes me miss that wonderful home! We just live down the road and would love to share some photos of when we lived there and tell you about when we lived there!
You are more than welcome to stop in some evening or weekend! We love the history of houses <3
Hey Kendra, Your “new to you home”seems to be coming along fine. “Rome wasn’t built in a day”? Blessings to all of you!??
I absolutely love how/where you say “It works for us”. Isn’t that how we all adapt & make our house our home? Delightful for you!
It absolutely is!
Our toilet has a bifold door, as well and we had the same privacy issue until one of my boys had an inspiration. He simply put a length of weatherstripping down the crack and that solved the problem!
Well… that’s a good idea π I’ll have to see what I can find!
Your home is just beautiful! I love the quirkiness. It gives it character. I grew up in Dayton, OH, not too far from you! Seeing your home reminded me of the houses I remember from my childhood. You all are doing a great job of making it your own. Thanks so much for sharing the photos! I love seeing the inside of people’s homes, too!! It was a pleasure visiting with you. π
its a great house that allows you to change it as your family needs change. Such a nice change to see a house (similar to mine) not perfect but it is neat and tidy and evolves as you need it to.
As you might realize, I’m also not a rich person to just change it all in a day. We’ve been here 25 years and its 50 years old and we just now replaced the original toilets. We are so excited!!!
Thanks, Barbara π We love it, it’s cozy but has room. And I should definitely clarify that we try to be tidy but with 3 littles (1, 3, and 5) it’s rarely tidy during the day. The 1-year-old drags stuff everywhere and I just ignore it until he’s in bed π
And I get the excitement over a toilet. Jason discovered our upstairs toilet is over 20 years old. It explains a lot about how it’s harder to keep the bowl clean than the newer downstairs one. Little changes here and there are how we do things as well. It’s okay to not be rich, we appreciate things more <3
You have a lovely home as is – but also a lot of potential for anything you may want to do both inside and out! Very nice!

I love old things and old houses in fact I think people are happier when not everything is up to date! Congratulations on your home, I love it! Jane
Lol! Well, I’m happiest when I’m planning, starting and then finishing projects and considering the number of projects this old house offers us, I’d say you are right about people being happier hahaha!
Your home is lovely and you will enjoy working on it. Good luck with all your plans. Thanks for sharing the tour with us this week at #HomeMattersParty
