Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before. Philippians 3:13
As we are reaching the end of the year, it’s common to look back at what was, and forward to what will be. Caught in the middle of two different time frames, we often have regrets, joys, unrealistic ideals and big plans.
I’m not any different. There are things I wish I would’ve done better, and things that still make me smile. And of course I have big plans for next year too!
I thought I would share a quick recap of the year and then give you a sneak peek on my plans for 2016!
#1. January of 2015 Jason and I set a huge goal for ourselves. It looked impossible, but we managed to achieve that goal every single month until I had to quit my nanny job 4 months sooner than planned.
However we worked so hard on that goal the beginning of the year that we were only 1.4 payments short of our yearly goal! You can learn more about that goal here.
#2. In January, Jason switched jobs and we had to shop for our own health insurance. I discovered Christian sharing plans and ultimately chose one. If you need health insurance, I compared two of the most popular sharing plans in this post.
#3. In April I scandalized a lot of readers by suggesting they throw away their tampons. I refuse to use them and think you shouldn’t either. Learn why here.
#4. After a year or more of working on it, I finally released my eBook Food Preservation Made Simple. I love helping others succeed and this book was written with that in mind. Perfect for the beginner!
#5. Everyone has their own standards of a clean house and mine aren’t that high for cleanliness, but I cannot stand clutter. 2 highly popular posts of this year share How I Wake to a Clean House Every Morning, and The Busy Mom’s Guide to a Welcoming Home.
#6. I’m all about saving money, and after discovering how much it cost me on average to run my dryer each month, I began line drying most of our clothes. I’m ready for warm weather and my clothes lines again!
#7. After quitting my nanny job, money of course, became a little tight. So how do I explain the multiple packages that arrive at my door each week? I’m a product reviewer on Amazon and I share how you can become one too in this post.
It’s been a wonderful year full of changes and I’m excited for the next year!
What are the Plans for 2016?
Where to start, where to start!
#1. A few blogging friends and I have started a Mom Group on Facebook. It’s our desire for this group to be a safe place to discuss “mom stuff,” find inspiration, and support. Your presence is welcome and wanted! Request to join here!
#2. I have another eBook in the works. This one will be full of recipes designed to help you save money and feed your family healthier at the same time. It’s my goal to complete it in 2016.
#3. I’m working on another subscriber freebie that I hope to have released soon. This one will offer you simple printable, real food meals that you can fix in 30 minutes or less.
#4. I’ve received enough positive feedback on this idea that I plan to start adding audio versions of my devotional style posts to the site. Expect to see a tab in my menu bar saying “Audio Posts” soon!
#5. Baby #2 is due in February and I will be taking some time off from my regular writing. No worries though, I’m currently lining up a few great guest posters to continue bringing you the uplifting and inspiring type of homemaking posts you’ve come to expect here!
What about you, what are your plans for 2016? Are you also excited to see what God has in store for us?!
