40 Weeks and Ready to Pop!

I cannot hardly believe it! 40 weeks! This little child has been growing inside of me for over 9 months now and we can expect a new arrival anytime!

40 weeks pregnant and ready to pop!

I say anytime, but it could be another week yet….  When I first found out I was pregnant, the app on my phone said I was due the 8th. Knowing myself to have a longer cycle, I just aded a couple days and said I was due the 12th.

Even though I plan on a home birth with a midwife, it’s smart to have a backup doctor just in case something goes wrong. So the first time I went to the doctor’s office, they helped me figure my true due date which is the 16th. So, I not actually 40 weeks. But it’s so close I don’t really care, baby is term and can come any time.

Mostly everything is ready for our little one. I have a blanket that I would like to finish crocheting, and I’m making slip covers to go over the outside of the clothes hamper we are using. Other than that… well, I should get my house cleaned!

I’m off work now for several weeks, and since I’m not using my energy taking care of other little ones, perhaps I will have enough to clean house.  Mother and the kids came up Tuesday and helped get a lot of stuff done. It also helped me stay on the ball. I felt bad sitting and taking a break while they were working, so I stayed at it and slowly got a lot done too!

Of course I paid for it that night and the next day. I hurt soooo bad I couldn’t hardly walk!

I’m pretty sure baby has dropped, my belly feels a lot lower and there’s more pressure “down there”.  As well, I’ve been having a lot of Braxton Hicks. Pretty good for a first time mom 🙂 hopefully they are doing something and the looooong labor of a first time mom won’t be a reality for me.

Speaking of labor, my sis had a question. A good question yes, but it made mom and I chuckle. Out of the blue she wondered what I would do if I went into labor and had the baby before I could get my pool blown up and filled.  My first thought popped right out of my mouth: “I would say thank you Lord!”. Mom starts laughing and I asked her if she agreed. She said she thought the same thing but wanted to hear my answer. 🙂

Now, I’m probably going to be a lot like my mother, pregnant 41 weeks at least. But there is a full moon tonight, and full moons can do some interesting things. So it would be fun to go into labor tonight because then I would likely have a lucky Friday the 13th baby!

Seriously, I usually get all my bad luck (if you want to call it that) on Thursday the 12th. So Friday 13th is my day 🙂

Thanks for sticking around and reading my ramblings here. 🙂 When ever baby comes I won’t be online much. I have posts scheduled for the next couple weeks, and a VA or two that’s helping share my stuff. Facebook is where you will be most likely to find me if I am online, so stay tuned!

I popped by this AM to see if the baby came yet! You look awesome and glowing, just take one labor pain at a time and you will get through them. I’ll be praying for you and the baby!

You look radiant! Raspberry leaf tea can be helpful during pregnancy. It is known to ease and speed labor. I know you will do very well! I keep you and your little one in my prayers!

Prayers for a safe and “easy” birth! I was late with all four of mine, but each one was/is worth the wait. You look fantastic!

I hope and pray all goes well for you and the baby!! I also have to tell you a small bit of my story. My mom didn’t know she was pregnant with me till she was 5 months along. She was 47 when she got pregnant with me and 48 when she had me. I was her first and only child. She started labor and finished delivering me in 4 hrs. So there is hope for you that you will have a quick labor and delivery!! Best wishes!!

Hi there. I just discovered your blog today and I love it! Also love that you live only a couple hours south of me which is awesome since I usually feel all the people who think a bit like me are all in other states! I hope you are doing well with your upcoming labor or njoying the new mama glow. I have two of my own and there is nothing like that feeling when you meet your new child!

So exciting! My first came 12 days late and my second 12 days early. Both were really quick labors. the first was over in 5 1/2 hours. Hope that everything goes smoothly. If we have another, we want to have a home birth. Hooray for new babies coming into this world!
