Labor day weekend we planned on doing some quick updates to our bathroom. This would involve pulling out our nasty old tub and replacing it, as well as replacing the sink. Long weekend project? You bet! By Friday night, I had everything yanked out except the tub which Jason helped me do when he got home.
However, Saturday didn’t go as planned, Jason and Grandpa thought they would “quickly” fix something else first. You can read all about my frustrations here.
So, our long weekend project took a bit longer than a weekend. And then since I wasn’t home much to work on the finishing parts… Well, lets just say, a month later, we are finally done! (except for one piece of trim board lol)
Here is the before photo:
Glass shower doors are ok, until you try bathing a child in there. I was freaking out the whole time I was giving my 11 month old nephew a bath, because I realized if he went face down I couldn’t reach him very easily.
The old sink was nice, but the cabinet stuck out into the room a ways making a small bathroom, feel smaller.
Here is what our tub looked like before.
Can you just say NASTY!!!! It also leaked along the sides, so both walls beside the tub needed some repair work. The over flow was also rusted through.
In progress….
And now the finished picture!!! -So sorry about the horrible lighting. I took close to 50 photos and this was the best one. :/
That sink is only a little bit narrower than the old one, but doesn’t stick so far out into the room. This also makes it easier to get to the tub. I hung the shower curtain we used at the rental and it will work for now. 🙂
Since I lost some of my under the sink storage, my awesome hubby whipped this up for me, using dollar store baskets I bought several years ago. Those baskets slide in and out as if they were drawers. 🙂
And because I went for over a month with bare-bones bathroom, I’m still enjoying having my decor up. So here’s a photo of that 😉 (The cool clock came from Mary & Martha when they had their clearance sale this summer)
Any way, who can relate to the nearly giddy feeling of accomplishment when you walk by a finished project that has been hanging over your head for a long time?
Kendra,
It is lovely. I love the storage idea under your sink! Perfect solution.
My bathroom is currently mid reno. And this one is the one to hold us over until we can totally replace and rearrange the entire room. I have partially removed border and a hope to paint in the near future. We’ll see.
Your bathroom turned out Great! I see you have the same problem I have, you can use the toilet brush your teeth and take a bath at the same time! lol
Boy and isn’t that the truth!!!
That is awesome!!! Our whole house is a renovation project. In fact, we’re adding square footage this week….drilling and pounding…and blah!!!! Buuuuuut, since our bathroom is the only room in the house that has future plans of remaining where it presently is, Husband and I decided that this winter we will slowly finish it. Which will be a relief because no matter where you go in either house or yard, you see projects started that can’t be finished until something ELSE is finished. It is a lesson in patience…which I learn and relearn every single day. 🙂
Ugh, living in constant construction would be a mess. I remember growing up, we had a winter like that 🙂
I love the idea of making drawers with baskets under the sink! The whole thing looks fantastic, and proof that good things come to those who wait 🙂 (and wait, and wait, and wait, haha)
Wait and wait… lol!
I love it and am so glad its finally done yay! I love the white theme and the baskets plus storage totally awesomeness!
Yay! Looks great – and I know just how you feel. I’ve been waiting 6 years now for my living room to be finished and i’ve totally lost count of how many years it’s been on the bathroom cabinet!
You have been waiting awhile!!! 🙂
This light colour looks beautiful in your bathroom. Really, you have done fabulous for this. Wow..I liked those blue baskets as I also have some but they are yellow in colour.
Thanks Evelyn! I am quite thrilled with the colors as well 🙂
Very nice job! And your husband, or you, whoever thought of the pull out drawer idea for your baskets, was simply brilliant!
Thanks Sue, I saw a similar idea on pinterest and asked Jason if her could make one for me 🙂
Great job. What a lovely bathroom!
