Roasted Butternut Chicken Recipe – One Dish Dinner

December 1, 2016 by Kendra 5 Comments

I should’ve taken a photo. This plant randomly popped up in our garden last spring and we let it grow… into a butternut squash that took over a good 1/3 of the garden and produced dozens of squash. So let’s just say my roasted butternut chicken recipe is a result of a bumper crop of squash! Even after giving tons of squash away, I still have a lot left in the garage and was trying to figure out how to […]

The Living Proverbs 31 Linkup

Hey everyone! I know it sounds cheesy and we all pretty much feel this way every month, but I’m still going to say it, “November? Already? WHAT happened to September? and October. Honestly, I enjoy being busy but that seems to make time fly faster than ever, and I don’t enjoy that! At any rate, it’s already November and that means less than 2 months until Christmas. While I don’t necessarily love the entire commercialization of Christmas; I genuinely enjoy […]

Packing an Organized Suitcase

October 27, 2016 by Kendra 13 Comments

Using EZPacking Cubes, makes making an organized suitcase a total breeze!

This post is sponsored by EzPacking, but all opinions are my own.  Jason and I have always enjoyed travel, and prior to having kids, packing an organized suitcase was easy. He had his and I had mine. Mine stayed nice, his was a messy pile after just a day. Then we had kids. They haven’t (so far) infringed on our love of travel. In fact, my 2 year old wakes up most mornings asking “go bye-bye soon?”. Since we have […]

October 23, 2016 by Kendra Leave a Comment

What is one to do when the babies are cranky and the weather makes you tired? Hmmm, I honestly don’t know the answer to that one. Friday I somehow managed to get both boys to sleep at the same time and I decided to lie down for a nap as well. 30 minutes later, someone’s at the door and the dog is barking. Long story short, not only did I get woke, so did the boys. Less than an hour’s […]

Weekly Dinner Menu Ideas

5 Weekly dinner menu ideas

When I “shopped my pantry” for a few weeks, one of my goals was to create weekly dinner menu ideas that I could use in a pinch. I still love my menu board but planning it out each time became a challenge and I quit doing it. Sometimes I have freezer meals from a big freezer cooking day (which reminds me, I need to do that again soon), and sometimes I have a meal in particular I wish to make […]

Gluten Free Banana Nut Bread

September 15, 2016 by Kendra 17 Comments

Since Kolton needs to eat gluten free I often feel bad baking our regular treats, and thus don’t bake at all. Problem is, I enjoy baking. So I’ve been trying to learn how to better bake with gluten free flours. Gluten free banana nut bread is my latest accomplishment. We love almond flour but it’s so pricey that I don’t like to buy it often. Coconut flour is my next favorite, but it’s very high in fiber and well… let’s […]

August 25, 2016 by Kendra 6 Comments

Delicious hot spinach artichoke dip appetizer recipe serves a dozen!

When we eat out at a nice place (it’s rare but it does happen!) hubby and I both love getting the hot spinach artichoke dip appetizer. Something about that smooth, hot, cheesy, melt in your mouth deliciousness that leaves us wanting more, and more… (I need to work on my self control here!) After one particular hot spinach artichoke dip appetizer disappeared seemingly faster than usual (thanks to the toddler) it occurred to me that I could probably make […]

Simple summer tomato sandwiches that are amazing!

I forget when I came upon this combo, but I know it’s now something I look forward to each summer. These simple summer tomato sandwiches must be made with fresh tomatoes. They just must. I’ve tried making them with store-bought tomatoes in the winter and the results were simply disappointing. Now we just eat ourselves sick of them for a few months each summer! This year has been especially nice. Since my discovery of this highly effective fertilizer, our tomatoes […]

Make a Sensory Blanket for Babies

How to make a sensory blanket for babies

Babies, like the tiny humans they are, are all different. Kolten wanted his thumb and mommy, never creating an attachment to any one particular thing. Malachi however, loves his Aiden Blankets and always chews on his pacifier strap. This gave me the idea for make a sensory blanket for babies. My sensory blanket for babies needed to include all of Malachi’s favorites. So I found some muslin (it was a crib sheet big enough to make two blankies and cheaper […]

Best Garden Fertilizer for a Bumper Crop!

July 28, 2016 by Kendra 9 Comments

When growing a garden we all know the soil needs lots of organic matter. Plenty of leaves, compost, manure, and mulch. We want to build the soil up and we want to use the best garden fertilizer possible. Jason typically dumps on 13x13x13 (nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium) and tills everything together. All of the above is good and we plan to continue doing it. Especially piling on the carbon (wood chips, leaves etc) and adding a high nitrogen manure on top […]

July 21, 2016 by Kendra 4 Comments

One thing that’s hard for me is to go into the store and buy recipe ingredients that are full of msg, gmos and so much more. Sometimes I’m able to find an item that is good but typically not. That leaves me pretending I don’t know what’s in it, doing without, or figuring out how to make the item. My recipe for enchilada sauce or red sauce is one of the last examples. It’s easy to make and we actually […]

Beer Batter Pizza Crust

July 14, 2016 by Kendra 12 Comments

Are you a pizza fan? How about a thick and crispy/just like a restaurant pizza crust fan? If so, you are going to LOVE my momma’s beer batter pizza crust! Backstory: I was a weird, stubborn little child who didn’t like pizza and flat out refused to eat it. Once on a trip I sat in the van and sulked for 45 minutes while my family sat in Pizza Hut and ate dinner. (tbh I still dislike their pizza’s) As […]

Typical Norwex party hostess rewards.

Most of you already know I signed up as a direct sales consultant for Norwex shortly after Malachi was born. I don’t share a lot about Norwex here, but on occasion something comes up that’s just too good to ignore! The Norwex hostess benefits are honestly some of […]

Have you ever wondered how to stay cool in the summer without constantly running the A/C? Well, I have a few tips for you! If you’ve ever been in an old house, it’s possible you noticed the tall windows and 12′ high ceilings along with doors in the front and rear of the house. There is a reason for this. The doors would be opened in the front and back allowing ample air to enter and exit the house, the […]

The 3 Sisters – Learning About Companion Gardening

June 9, 2016 by Kendra Leave a Comment

Companion gardening and growing the 3 sisters.

The Iroquois called them the 3 sisters; corn, beans and squash. The corn provided something for the beans to climb, the beans provided nitrogen for the corn and the squash spread between the rows providing ground cover and weed control. The 3 Sisters – Companion Gardening Companion gardening isn’t new, and if you want to save space, it’s one of the best ways to go. Certain plants grow well together, while other plants simply benefit each other like the case of […]
