As I mentioned last week, I was send a jar of Tropical Tradition‘s gold label Virgin Coconut Oil to review. I shared my secret to crispy fried potatoes then as well.

Because Coconut Oil is hard at 60 degrees, it can be used in replacement of butter, or you can warm it to 76 degrees and you will have an oil. That means you have a very versatile ingredient on your hands.
You can use the oil for frying because the heat does not cause the oil to become toxic. I also used it a couple weeks ago in biscuits instead of butter. They came out light and fluffy!
Don’t they look yummy?
Tropical Traditions also has a recipe blog, where people have shared their coconut oil recipes. What really impressed me with that site, were the large amounts of dairy and gluten free recipes. I know that if I need to cook special for my family I would be using a lot of recipes from there. As it is, I have already pinned several to my Kitchen Capers board on Pinterest. ๐
Sooo, that means I am going to be testing a few of them out! Maybe I will even share them with you. Well, sharing the photos that is. ๐
Now, on to the coconut oil giveaway!

I love TT coconut oil, just ordered 2 quarts today.
Awesome! I use it for so much stuff!
I am not a fan of the texture of coconut, but I like the flavor. After reading about all the benefits of coconut oil, I would like to try it!
It’s pretty awesome.
i absolutely LOVE this coconut oil by tropical traditions. i used it to substitute for vegetable shortening in molasses cookies and they were totally, awesomely delicious. i also use it after a bath to soothe the itching from eczema on my elbows and knees. it softens my skin and calms the craving to scratch and further irritate my skin, and it isn’t greasy at all after rubbing it on. it’s better (and cheaper) than any other store bought moisturizer i have tried.
That’s awesome! I used to use it in the shower, but it made my towels smell funny. ๐ So I stopped using it in the shower.
I love kale chips. I usually make them with Extra virgin olive oil, but I now use virgin coconut oil, and they are just as good if not better. You have to try this yhey are so good for you.
1 bunch of Kale
1T sea salt
2-3T coconut oil
Remove kale from stalk, tear into bit size pieces, rinse with water, dry. toss with salt and coconut oil. Put on cookie sheet in even layer, as possible. Bake at 250-300 degrees for about 30 minutes. Check for crispiness and toss often, about every 5-10 min. When crispy they are done. Eat and Enjoy.
I like these better than potato chips!!
I’ve had kale chips before and didn’t like them. But they were store bought and homemade is always better, so I may have to try these ๐
