Disclaimer: Easiest online Christmas list organization is a collaboration between A Proverbs 31 wife and Clipix.
I have a true love/hate relationship with Christmas lists. Every year I hear “I need your Christmas list”, and every year my mind goes blank. I know I just saw something that I need/want but I cannot remember what it was.
I agree that lists are nice, and it’s fun if the person you are buying for has a large list, but most of the time we are all the same. Totally blank when put on the spot for gift ideas. Too bad adults aren’t like kids and immediately have all sorts of ideas!
The truth of the matter is, when I’m online I often see all sorts of lovely kitchen gadgets or books that I would love to have. But they don’t fit in our budget so I don’t really give them a second glance.
Or rather, I didn’t give them a second glance. Now I do, I clip a photo of the item I want and add it to my Clipix clipboard. I use “save it” button on my laptop for a little of this, but I usually use the Clipix app on my phone.
Now in a month or so when my dear gran asks for a Christmas list, I will have one ready to go. Or mostly ready, I may need to go in and make sure it’s still stuff I want. 🙂
What is Clipix?
It’s possible you haven’t heard of Clipix. Clipix allows you to organize your photos, files, documents and other similar things online. In a nutshell, if Evernote and Pinterest were to have a child, it would be Clipix. 🙂
I love it for blogging as a great way to clip articles and information for future blog posts. It’s also a great way to upload notes, files and photos for future posts.
For personal use I like it as a way to save my ebooks online and as a way to create gift lists.
Why Clipix?
It’s simple. I create a board for a single project and add my own notes and ideas along with web pages that support it.
Boards with products show the prices of items, so people perusing my Christmas list can see at a glance what an item costs making it easy to decide what they want to spend.
As well, you can use the product guides to alert you to price drops. Is there a gift that you really want to buy but $35 is too much? While clipping the item you can tick the little “price alert” box and set your budget price. If the item drops to that amount you get notified. No more daily checking for sales!
Easiest Online Christmas List
After learning how Clipix worked, I added the browser extension for Chrome (available for other browsers as well). The next time I saw something I liked I just clipped it to my Christmas list, taking less than 30 seconds and it was added.
The phone app is equally easy to use and I plan on installing it to hubby’s phone and telling him to add things he would like. (Seriously, some men are just hard to buy for!)
Are you and your siblings/friends planning a group vacation? Are you in charge of a group project? This is where I think clipix has the greatest potential.
Create a clipboard for the group and everyone can upload notes, share files and link to ideas on the web. You can comment and add to the clips as you decided where to go with your vacation or project.
I know the last time we were involved in a large group trip, the internet wasn’t hardly developed enough for such a thing and instead there were hundreds of calls and texts. It was pretty confusing at times for sure.
Another great use would for planning the holiday menu if multiple people are bringing dishes.
I’m also using clipix for is a way to organize my recipes online. If I find an online recipe that I like, I clip it. If I find a recipe in a book and like it, I take a photo and upload it as a clip on my phone. If I find an ebook recipe that I like I save that page.
It’s very convenient and then I have my recipes anywhere I’m at. (assuming I have my phone)
Clipix is a free service that’s fun and easy to use. Why not try it out for yourself?
And if your favorite bloggers happen to be on your Christmas shopping list, I have a list here for you to reference 😉
I think this is great. I like Amazon products and share it.
