What is one to do when the babies are cranky and the weather makes you tired? Hmmm, I honestly don’t know the answer to that one. Friday I somehow managed to get both boys to sleep at the same time and I decided to lie down for a nap as well. 30 minutes later, someone’s at the door and the dog is barking.
Long story short, not only did I get woke, so did the boys. Less than an hour’s nap for any of us. *sobs, big gulping sobs*
So life isn’t perfect and skies aren’t always sunny. Sometimes we just wonder what the point in it all is. Then we realize…
Those cranky babies that just want to waller all over you rather than go play so you can work, let them waller! You didn’t feel like canning tomatoes anyway. hehe!
I’m learning as a mom to let far more go than I ever dreamed I would. It’s more than letting go of perfect schedules, orderliness, that much craved “me time”. It’s letting go of everything that was once considered necessary for survival; and embracing the chaos that comes with little arms that wrap around your neck, and slobbery mouths that cover you in kisses.
Motherhood, my dear readers is hard. It’s real, it’s dirty and it’s simply hard. But the rewards are so worth it. Rewards like seeing them reach milestones, hearing them call your name (for the 100th time, seriously!) and then they say “I love you mommy”.
Or when they add to prayer time in their own funny ways. When Jason or I say “thank you for this food” Kolton proceeds to thank God for everything on his plate, and if daddy is still praying when Kolton is done naming his food, he then moves on to thanking God for everything else on the table!
A friend of mine recently posted something on Facebook that I so get. She’s living the life she prayed so long for and it’s hard! All I’ve ever wanted was to be a momma who stayed home and raised her babies, and sometimes it’s so hard, and I’m so sleep deprived, I fail to appreciate my blessings.
So what’s my point in all this? Well, to remind all the other mommas out that that you are not alone. We are all “living the dream” but sometimes dreams get dark. When they do, hang on, love those little ones and wait for the light. It will come. It always does!
I’m hoping the featured posts for today give you a bit of inspiration, I definitely enjoyed reading them. 🙂
From Ready to Be Offered comes A Woman Who Fears the Lord. I love the how she lists the attributes of this woman. In reading her thoughts on this I think we see many of the same things alike. I desire to be a woman who fears the Lord and really enjoyed reading her post on the subject.
My sweet friend Bekah from We Live Inspired shared Living With Grace. She paints a simple portrait of what living with grace looks like and it’s beautiful. A good reminder for me as well.
