I love the abundance of information that is found via e-books today. I had a huge library on my computer that sadly got deleted by mistake. I’ve since learned my lesson and promptly backup my e-book files after purchasing them. I’ve also learned how to read them on my Kindle device.
Today I’m sharing how to send PDF and .mobi files to your kindle. .mobi files are documents formatted for the Kindle version of e-readers. The only thing you need is an Amazon account.
How to Send PDF and Mobi Files to Your Kindle
Anytime you purchase an e-book from a blogger –like these here– you will most likely be emailed a link to download your book. Once downloaded to your computer, you can print or read it from your pc.
To read the book on your Kindle, you need to send the files to your Kindle email. This is a very simple proces explained by the screen-shots below.
First of all, you need to find your send-kindle-email. Log into your Amazon account and hold your mouse over the “my account” section. In the drop down menu find and click Manage Your Content and Devices. Select Your Devices and you should see all the ways you are able to read with the Kindle reader.
As shown below, I can read on my pc, in the cloud, and on my Android device.
Select the device you wish to read your book on. You will see the option to deregister or set as default device. You will also see an email address. That is your send to Kindle email. Copy that address and now it’s time to head over to your email account.
Paste that email in the “to” section and then attach your PDF or .mobi file to the email.
There is no need to place anything in the subject line, or in the body part of your email. Once your file is attached it’s time to hit send.
Now, we are going back over to Amazon. This time select Your Content, make sure the menu is set to show Docs. There is a search bar on the left that you can use if you have lots of files stored here, however it is likely you will see the file you just sent at the top of the list.
Select the file you wish to send and then select Deliver. You can also select the box under Actions and select deliver or delete. I really do not recommend deleting your file, they are stored in the cloud and a nice way to backup your files.
And that’s it! Now you know how to send PDF and mobi files to your Kindle device.
Now that you know how to do so, why not visit the shop and try it out with one of our e-books! (All books may still be read on your pc).
If you are an e-book fan, I highly recommend backing up your ebooks somewhere besides your pc. I highly recommend backing them up to the cloud on Amazon (affiliate link), where every customer gets 5GB of free storage. You will find your cloud drive in the drop down under your account.

I like to convert my PDF files to Kindle format to read on my Kindle. To do that, I put “convert” in the subject line of the email I’ve attached the files to, and they are automatically converted. That way I can change font size to what is most comfortable to read!
That’s a great idea!
