It wasn’t funny at the time, but it is now. Here is my embarrassing story of the time I nearly gave hubby a concussion.
My story starts long before I ever met Jason. It starts when I was 10 and my little sister was 2.
I was so thrilled to have a little sister (after two brothers), that as soon as she was potty trained I begged for her to share my room and bed. It was fun for awhile, having your baby sister snuggle up to you while she is sleeping. But baby sister was growing up. And by the time she was five I was pretty tired of waking up and finding that she was using my rear end or my belly as a pillow again.
Even worse than being her pillow was how I had to share MY pillow, with her feet! I think by the time I was in my teens I really regretted having to share a room and bed with a little sister 8 years younger than I. As a result, I devised ways to keep her on her own side of the bed.
I actually became very territorial and kick, hit, or scratch when she got close to me. I didn’t want anybody touching me while I was sleeping.
Fast forward a few years and I marry Jason. The first night of our honeymoon was great. We slept side by side and I loved having him there. Of course I didn’t sleep really well so never fell into that deep unconscious sleep.
The second night…. Well I was sound asleep and Jason rolled over onto MY pillow and put his arm around me. So sweet and romantic and all of that lovey dovey gooshy stuff.
Until, my brain wakes up just enough to realize that I’m sharing my pillow. Wham!!! I thrust my elbow into the offending head just as hard as I possibly could while still being half asleep!
Just as my elbow made contact, I woke up enough to realize, it wasn’t my sister I hit but my husband, right in his temple! I turned over and started crying while trying to make sure he was okay. Poor guy, between the flashing stars and crying wife, he didn’t know what to think!
Did you ever do anything like that when you were first married?
How funny! Thanks for sharing & for hosting & God bless.
Oh, Kendra! I’ve been known to hit Will in my semi-sleepy state, just for crossing that invisible mid-line to ‘my side’ of the bed!
Thanks for hosting 🙂
Hahahaha! I’m not a cuddler either, at least, not when I’m sleeping. My hair used to be down to my bottom and I could sit on it. One night I was asleep and facing away from my husband with my long hair behind me. I half woke up and decided to turn over. I discovered that I *couldn’t* turn over because my husband was sleeping on my hair.
So I couldn’t roll over, and he didn’t wake up when I called his name, and he was BEHIND me so I started lightly throwing my arm behind me trying to smack him enough for him to wake up. I had to hit at him several times but he woke up and it was so funny, he said something like “Why are you hitting me?” I explained about my hair, lol! Thanks for hosting today and I suggest you buy your husband a helmet. 😉
Oh my goodness! I’ve had issues with him laying on my hair as well!
Nope. I am the very cuddly one, always wants to be held through the night. I even wrote about it. I am sure by now things are changing up a bit for you…
Thanks for sharing and hosting, do have a super blessed week ahead!
Love
Oh, I love the cuddles now. 🙂 And I remember your post… it was really good.
Hilarious story! I am not a very cuddly sleeper, either. Z works 3rd shift every 3 weeks and I still contend (6 years later) that it is the week when I get the best sleep. lol! Thanks for hosting!!
I was so nervous our first night that I ended up going to the bathroom about every half hour! We also accidently knocked over the champaigne bucket, in the middle of the night, in complete darkness and broke the glasses!
Yipes! That’s a hard one to explain 🙂
Yes and our guests threw dried lavender as we made our getaway and when we got to our room, the lavender that was all fought up in our clothes and hair got all over the floor! I’m sure the owners of the b&b were used to having a lot to vacuum up after honeymooners!
My husband recently told me I hit him! I said, “well stay on your side of the bed”.
When we were first married, we were different. Now we have a child, pets, and bellies that get in the way of cuddling. Plus – he’s too hot to cuddle with. HA!
Anyway – Great story.
Hugs…
Em
lol! Jason is too hot to cuddle with all night, but I do enjoy cuddling before we go to sleep. 🙂
Oh yes! Cuddling before sleep! Definitely!
I don’t think I did anything like that. But I did dislocate one of Chris’s fingers during the delivery of our second child (although I did not find out about that until a couple of days later).
Thanks for the giggle. I have friends that in a moment of passion knocked the picture above their bed off the wall and it fell on top of them. She had a black eye that was, well, difficult to explain 🙂
I’m sure that was a hard one to explain, but oh how funny!
Ha! That is so funny Kendra!!
My story is the opposite! Shortly after we were married my husband sat up in the middle of the night, put his hand on my chest and yelled: “We gotta get outta here!! It’s all about to hit the fan! RUN!!” I sat up, my heart going 100 miles an hour, and tried to get him to tell me what was going on. It took me a minute to realize he was dreaming. It also took me a while to get back to sleep. He has told me I need rescuing in his dreams, he has asked me to check and make sure his feet are still there and that the alligators didn’t get them, he’s asked me to hand him the shotgun… I never did discern why he needed it… And we have had a lot of adventurous andinteresting conversations all while he has been asleep. He never remembers any of this in the morning, but he does sometimes wake up exhausted. I’m used to it now, it’s been 6 years… But I wasn’t sure I was going to like sharing a bed at first 🙂
Oh how funny!!! I tend to snore, but Jason talks in his sleep so I claim we are even. 😉 That’s not actually true though, hearing him talk in his sleep actually makes me chuckle, especially when I can hear what he is saying!
