Hey y’all! As promised, I am back with some pictures of the past week and my reason for missing from the blogging world.
In a world where divorce is common, and the average marriage doesn’t last even 15 years. 50 years together is certainly worth celebrating! Because Jason’s family is scattered across the states, it’s quite a feat to get most of his family together the way we did. (Of course there were still people missing)
And of course our weekend couldn’t go quite as planned! Mom and one of the aunts planned on baking the cakes at Grandpa’s house, but due to a storm, there was no electricity there. Not to mention, the several people that were staying there were not able to shower! Fortunately we still had our electricity and they all come up to our house to shower. They were also able to bake the cakes up here, so we did have cake!
Oh and by the way, I love my kitchen but it’s rather small when you are talking about baking a serious amount of sheet cakes! Side note about ordering pizza online, Donato’s and Domino’s may look alike when you are ordering, but Donato’s tastes nothing like Domino’s! 🙁
Frosting the cakes, at a church building we rented for the party.
Jason’s mom and aunt seriously make the best cakes ever! Not only do they look pretty, they taste delicious! I normally do not like cake and hate icing, but I love what they make. 🙂
We made a memory wall and hung 50 facts/memories about Grandpa and Grandma.
Jason’s Grandpa, is hysterically funny! We call him an “old goat” sometimes, and he just goes right along with it. When I first met him, I decided he was the original “redneck”!
Grandma has sewn for years. Lately I have been going over and sewing with her, it’s more fun with company!
Grandpa and Grandma dated for 3 months and then were married 4 months after they got engaged.
The suit and dress they wore for their wedding!
I can only pray, that if the Lord doesn’t return before then, Jason and I can have a marriage that last’s 50 years. When I look at our grandparents I am remind the we truly have a Godly heritage, that cannot ever be replaced, and I praise the Lord!
That is SO special! They look so happy still!
Thanks Amanda, I do believe they are still happy 🙂
I love the way you tell about it! It sounds so interesting and exciting! And you are so helpful!
🙂 Is it easier to read what I write, rather than me try to tell you about it? You know, rather than try to make sense of how fast I talk? 🙂
Looks like you guys throw a fun celebration!!! 🙂 The memory cards are such a sweet idea! Happy 50th to them!!!
What a beautiful celebration!!! Thank you so much for sharing!!!
Wow happy anniversary to them! 50 years is beautiful and obviously a lot of work. Praying they have many more 🙂
