A couple of months ago I began experiencing severe discomfort in the back of my throat.
Now having never experienced acid reflux, or heartburn for that matter I didn’t immediately realize what I was suffering from.
I started watching what I ate and right away noticed that highly processed foods such as white bread, fake butter and white sugars made it much worse.
After about two weeks of dealing with this, it was time for hubby and I to go to the chiropractor for our monthly visit. I mentioned to my chiropractor that I had been suffering from acid reflux and he suggested Apple Cider Vinegar.
When I got home, I looked up ACV in a book mom bought me for Christmas. Here is a portion of what I read: “The lower esophageal sphincter (LES) is a pH sensitive valve. When there is food in the stomach with insufficient acid present, the LES valve can periodically flop open, causing reflux.”* So acid reflux is caused by to little acid in the stomach, not by too much as I had first thought. ACV supplies the body with the acid needed for the LES to work properly.
I bought organic ACV that had not been distilled or strained, meaning it still had the mother in it. The mother in ACV is full of enzymes and minerals that your body needs, and is very very good for you.
To take the ACV you will want to dilute it. The acid can be very hard on your teeth and mouth if you drink it plain. Mix 2 tablespoons with at least 16 oz of water. If you can’t handle the taste try adding juice concentrate or putting some raw honey in to sweeten it.
I don’t have problems with acid reflux much these days but when it starts to flare up again, I just drink some ACV. 🙂
*The book my mom gave me for Christmas is the one I quoted. It is written by Rachel Weaver and the title is be your own doctor. I was even really nice and looked it up on Amazon for you. 🙂 I refer to this book a lot when “things go wrong”.

I love Braggs ACV, it’s awesome for so many things! I don’t have acid reflux, but I do get some weird flare ups of acne every once in a while and ACV is great for that too. You can drink it (same as you do for acid reflux) and it helps balance the pH of your body, and you can also just apply a diluted solution to your face with a cotton pad and it helps to clear it up! It’s sooo useful 🙂
Ya, I’ve been trying to get rid of my acne… the prob with applying ACV directly is it dries my face out horribly. But I have a good moisturizer 🙂
I LOVE ACV!! I have this. I bought it because I read it was one thing that boosts your metabolism but then I ended up just liking the taste. I just drink it with water for the heck of it.
I wish I could like the taste :/ I don’t dislike it but I still prefer plain old H2O for hydration 🙂
i had no idea that reflux was a *lack* of acid!!!
I LOVE ACV. Never had the unfiltered stuff. Can’t buy it in the store here. Add a little local honey to it. Helps it taste a little better 😉
so interesting!! i wonder how mane natural remedies there are that no one has eve even heard of….

Bro # 3 remember his tummy aches? I used to give a teaspoon of cider vinegar and a teaspoon of honey to him when he complained of a tummy ache, usually after we had went out to eat. Bro # 4 usually wanted some too and drank it down pretty fast. By the next morning Bro # 3 was feeling much better.
I took Bro # 2 to the doctor and his doctor gave him what Kip said tasted like green tomatoe worm juice for acid reflux. He also gave him a prescription. I offered him a bottle of BB, which he took, because he didn’t think he liked the green tomatoe worm taste. ha ha.
Vinegar is pretty useful, just like doctors are pretty useless lol
Thank you!
