Man was created in the image of God. However, it seems that we see the most of God in the nature that surrounds us.

In nature we find the fingerprints of God

Genesis 2:4 These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens.

On a clear night we can tilt our heads back and look towards the heavens. The magnitude of stars that you can see is just overwhelming. The extend on farther than the physical eye can see. Science tells us these stars are light-years away, meaning their light actually takes years just to reach us, that type of distance boggles my mind.

Gazing up into the heavens tells us that we serve a big God.

Summer storms are amazing. Thunder and lightening, huge storm clouds and wind funnels. Storms inspire a bit of awe in me, as the rain pours and the thunder crashes, I am watching the skies. Perhaps out of a well grounded fear that a twister could appear, but also just in amazement at the power that is at work there.

Storms remind us that we serve a powerful God.

Sitting near the water’s edge after a hike, I look over at the waterfalls. The sheer force of this water as it plummets over the edge of a cliff and falls several hundred feet down is simply astounding. The water falls, hits the bottom and millions of tiny droplets fly back into the air, the sun shining through the mist creates a rainbow, and we know that the long hot hike was worth it.

Waterfalls remind us that we serve an awesome God.

Sitting in a tree stand at 5am. The sky begins to lighten as the woods wakes up. You hear the little creek gurgling and the leaves under foot begin to rustle. The sky begins to turn pink and in the early morning mist, birdsong begins. As all around you the forest wakes up, it seems like the best morning to ever dawn on the face of the earth.

Early mornings in the woods reminds us that we serve a creator God.

Ever sat in a sunny meadow? The nearby pond shimmers in the sunshine, as dragon flies flit around the edges. The occasional splash of a fish sounds among the birdsong. The noise of humans is absent and only the sounds of nature fill the meadow.

A quiet meadow reminds us that we serve a God of peace.

All around us is God’s creation, his finger prints are all over it. I am so thankful to live in a world of nature.
