While we have been back from our trip since Friday, I really still don’t quite feel like I’m back. Somewhere along the line, my brain got left behind!
We had a great time with Jason’s family and I cannot wait for next summer, when we are going out there again for a wedding. I get another sista-in-law!
From the first time that Jason took me to Oregon to meet his family, I have loved flying. What I don’t love so much is that little thing they call turbulence. We were in a huge jet and at one point I was bouncing in my seat. Worse than that though, was how the toilets must have gotten sloshed. We were in the back and it smelled so bad, that by the time we reached the airport 2 hours later I was very nauseous feeling. After we got out of that turbulence and could see again, the clouds were amazing.
Jason helped his dad and brothers with the house roof. That house still had the original wood shingles that had to be taken off as well as the normal ones that had been put over them 30+ years ago. It was a huge mess and the noise inside was crazy! One day when all the other guys were working, I did help Jason for awhile.
But mostly I helped out in the house, and thoroughly enjoyed playing with this little guy. I wish they lived closer because I would definitely be that aunt that spoils!
It wouldn’t be a trip to Oregon if we didn’t go to the coast at least once. The youngest brother and I were the only ones to get very wet, but that is what normally happens. I guess it’s to cold for the rest of them. 🙂
And then we took some photos. Why not, right? There were a lot of funny ones, because anytime we try to take photos of Jason and his brothers, things are likely to get interesting! Like the time I asked them to turn around and look at the ocean and they all stuck out their rears! Or when us girls were trying to pick up our hubbys. 🙂

The couple on the left are getting married next summer and the couple in the center have the little boy. And I think you know those goofy people on the right! 😉
I really enjoy spending time with Jason’s family, we are all just a bit goofy and that’s just fine by me!
We got up at 2:30am to head home Wednesday morning, the plan was to be home by 7pm. We had a layover in New Jersey and when we landed we learned our flight to Indy had been canceled. 🙁 After 2 reschedules and cancels later, we resigned ourselves to spending the night there. At this point I was so tired I wanted to cry (ok, so maybe I did a little), The seats at the airport had stationary arm rests which meant I couldn’t even lay down and take a nap on them.
Most of the hotels were full, but we did find one and they gave us the “distressed rate” which was over 65% off. It also meant we took what was available. For $100 we got this room:
Awesome! Right? I mean we didn’t even have this nice of a room on our wedding night and we paid every bit that much. 🙂 And let me tell you, after a stressful day of travel, that jacuzzi felt amazing! I turned into a human raisin! 🙂
We did obviously get home safe and sound, and our luggage made it as well. So we are thankful. But maybe next summer, we will drive out there. 😉
So glad you had a great time in Oregon! Maybe next time you come out, we can coordinate to meet up for a couple hours. There’s not really anywhere that’s not a day’s driving distance and I’d love to meet you in person!
Yay I am not the only one that thought they would like to meet you while you were here LOL.
Did you go to Cannon Beach? I feel like that looks like Haystack Rock, but it seems to be at a weird angle if that is it…
Looks like you had an awesome time 🙂
We were on the other side 🙂 It’s a bit quieter there. But you have to walk down a long ways unless you have 4wd.

Kendra, Oregon is one of our favorite places on the planet. I am so happy you had a positive adventure. Thank you for sharing at the Thursday Favorite Things blog hop. xo
I have never been there, but am glad you had a great time with family. That hotel room does look cool…love the heart shaped tub 😉
Oh Bekah, that jacuzzi was awesome!!!
I keep trying to talk my hubby into moving to oregon. I’ve found a job opportunity for him. He says no he’s not moving. LOL! Hey a girl can dream can’t she? I’ve visited Oregon when I was younger and I liked it.
I spy Haystack Rock! My Sweetie and I met in Cannon Beach 19 years ago next month, at The Cannon Beach Christian Conference Center! :>
Oh how fun!!! When we go to the coast, we either go to Cannon Beach or D-River, but I like going to Cannon Beach the best, especially the north side, which I suppose isn’t really called Cannon Beach. 🙂
Ahhh – I am officially homesick now. 🙂 I grew up in Washington State, but when I was a senior in high school we moved to Portland. Ahhh – God’s Country!
It is such a beautiful place! I’ve never been to Washington.
