He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still. Then are they glad because they be quiet; so he bringeth them unto their desired haven. Psalms 107:29-30
Where is our “desired haven”? The Lord has promised us rest from the storms of this life when we call on him. vs. 28 Then they cry unto the Lord in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their distresses.
vs.31 Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!
In our distress we can call out unto God and he will reach down and shelter us and bring us unto our desired haven. Does that mean he will get rid of our troubles and trials? Someday he will, but right now, he is our place to run and hide when this life becomes to crazy. Where we can run to our closet and fall on our face, pleading for mercy and hope in a dark time.
He will not always answer the way we hope, and on the outside, things have not chanced. However, on the inside He has brought us to our safe haven, and at least for awhile we have peace in our hearts. Doesn’t that want to make you say with the psalmist, “Oh that men would praise the Lord!”
I link up at these awesome parties!
This is a great reminder that the Lord is our safe refuge and our peace in times of trouble! So often we think that means He will take away our trouble when it really means He will see us safely through.

Yes, indeed. He is a definitely a place to hide, when the storm hits, and even when the sun is shining. Thank you for this.
Thanks for stopping by Jen 🙂
Thank you for this reminder. I know I often call out to him, and then reject the sanctuary from the storm He offers me because that means I have to relinquish control. Not always an easy thing to do, but it is a lesson I am working on learning. Surrendering is the key.
Surrender truly is key. Something a lot of us struggle with.
A desired Haven – what a lovely thought and one I will be pondering. coming over from new life steward blog hop and glad to find your blog.

Great blog! I love the line “He will not always answer the way we hope…” But He always answers according to his plan. Thank God for that!

Beautiful words!
He is our “Safe Place”… that is “it” for the rest of our earthly life and then for eternity. Relying on Him is all that counts… even when what surrounds us does not look perfect, He is. I need to be constantly aware of that.
we may not always get what we want, but we’ll always get what we need. God is always ontime and i’m sooo thankful for that.
🙂
