Last weekend we had some unexpected visitors, they marched right in and demanded to be fed. But I’m getting ahead of myself here.
It was the big family get-together with uncles, aunts, and cousins, the day was filled with the usual. Lots of this:
We knew a few of our rather large number had slipped off, but with food time rapidly approaching we also knew they would come back and thought little more of it.
When suddenly there is a knock at the door and it flies open! I turn around and our unexpected visitors came flocking in!
What a commotion! Between hats, bonnets and hoop skirts, Grans kitchen was quickly filled to capacity.
It took a bit, but we were able to get their names.
Left to Right
Miss Virgina and her escort Mr. Calvin.
The Lady Hannah and her escort Lord David.
Sir Thompson and Lady Claudia.
Mr. Thompson was asked what was in his pockets. Upon which he produced for our inspection, a bottle of Bad Hair Day pills, guaranteed to cure all ills. We determined this to be the reason behind his very chipper attitude. Sadly, they were NOT for sale. 🙁
The demands for food were plenty, but given the size of our rather portly gentleman visitors we were hesitant to offer any.
So they offered us some entertainment instead. An impromptu dance was held in the formal living room. However, they could not agree upon which dance they should perform.
The young ladies were quite charming and agreed to a photo.
Mr. Calvin wasn’t quite sure what to think of it all, so he took advantage of a nearby couch. We are nearly certain we heard him snoring at one point.
There were several mentions of a time machine by the younger children. Now I’m not sure if they really knew what they were talking about. But incidentally when our unexpected visitors left, the missing number of our group returned. We are also a little concerned about using the front bathroom at Grandmas now!
I have no idea what’s going on here but I love it.
Hahaaha! Lets just say o have some cousins who love dressing up and surprising people 🙂
Sounded like they had a lot of fun. But is with being afraid of using the front bathroom?
cute! looks like every one had a lot of fun 🙂
I do believe I recognize some of these faces … how fun!
I would imagine you do! Family Christmas’s are so much fun with that crew. 🙂
Looks like it was fun. I wouldn’t be happy about unexpected visitors, but I wish I knew the type of people who want to play board games and cards and have snacks.
Ah we knew it was them of course, but it was so much fun to pretend. I must say I’m really sorry you don’t know any one who would be happy to sit and play games and eat snacks while enjoying time with friends and family. No TV is a blessing after all you know 🙂
But in the same sentence, you have reminded me how blessed I am. 🙂
It’s not necessarily TV that is the problem…it’s that so many people want to get drunk these days. Everything where I live (in South Carolina) is about alcohol and football.
Just love it! Love It! Made me smile and realize how blessed we are where we can have this kind of fun!! I come from a family who enjoys this type of thing also! What a joy! Thanks for sharing the pictures! 🙂
this sounds like so much fun! Thanks for sharing!!! (yes, ideas are forming, lol)
Looks like alot of fun going around there. Sometimes it’s good to have unexpected company. Thanks for visiting.
We always have lots of fun! 🙂
Love the clothes!
Aren’t they fun? My cousins have like the greatest treasure trove of dress up clothes!
Looks like a lot of fun! What were you doing? Thanks for linking up at One Creative Weekend! Enjoy your weekend.
I agree with Robin, another lady who commented on here. I was looking at the board games and thinking the same thing. I just don’t have a game playing family on dad’s side, and then as far as non family people that live around here, I don’t know any who like to have game nights with snacks. Seems like partying must involve getting drunk as Robin mentioned. Refreshing and looks like fun!
Looks like you guys had a lot of fun! And, board games are a blast! Cards as well, except when you have a husband that wins 3/4 of the games! I can laugh between the tears, lol!
Looks like so much fun! Love the costumes too! What a wonderful way to spend time with family. Thanks for linking up to One Creative Weekend.
Thanks for stopping by 🙂
