When it comes to praying for your husband’s day, are you with me in feeling like you aren’t praying as you ought for him?
Sure, I will often think of him and breath a quick prayer for him. But I rarely pray purposely for him.
Just like last Friday when I was talking about having a vision, I want to have a vision towards my husband as well. I’m not talking about making my vision his, or any thing like that. But just like I have a vision for myself, I have a vision for Jason.
My vision for him would be that he will excel at work. That he would be a Godly Husband. That he would be a Godly father. Now obviously, I cannot make him become any of that. He has to want it, and God has to guide him. I can encourage and support him, but most importantly, I can pray for him.
I’ve been thinking on this subject a lot lately, and realizing how inconsistently and unspecifically I have been praying for him. So looking at my vision for him, I started writing down a few specific prayers for him.
Praying for your Husband’s day.
- Pray that he will have a vision towards Godly living.
- Pray that his heart would be turned and open towards God.
- Pray that he will find purpose in his work.
- Pray that the light of God would shine through him.
- Pray that he would find strength when temptation comes.
- Pray that he may know just who he is in the Lord.
- Pray that he will grow as the spiritual leader of the family.
- Pray that the men in his life will encourage him and hold him accountable as a Christian. (also pray that the Lord would bring those men into his life.)
- Pray that he will have wisdom in training his children.
- Pray that his heart belongs first to God, and then to you.
Of course, depending on your man, you will want to ad other specifics to that list. Perhaps praying for freedom from addictions, or that work and money would not be the focus of his life. Maybe it’s praying that he will be comforted in a loss.
Whatever it is, ladies, we NEED to pray for our man. I’m speaking to myself just as strongly here. It’s something we forget so easily. And if we are not praying for him, who is?
Know your husband’s weaknesses and stand in the gap for him. Talk to him at night and find out how work is going, very likely you will find out areas that your man needs prayer. Are you praying for your husband’s day?
I know I want to be much more specific, when praying for my dear man. 🙂
Thank you so very much for hosting! I love the beauty and practicality of your post. Your honestly is so wonderful.
I look fwd to coming back and reading a few of the others’ links!.
Thanks for hosting Kendra! And for the reminder to be more intentional for the prayers for my husband, I need to be more specific and pray for many different areas of his life. Have a good week! 🙂
Such great ideas, Kendra! I love the part where you encourage us to pray that his heart belongs first to God and THEN to us! Amen! Thanks for hosting today, my friend.
Thanks Kendra for hosting again this week. I like your list for praying for your husband and I will be copying it in the morning. Well, it is morning now, but waay too early. Just early enough for two babies 😉
Love, love, love this Kendra!! Such great suggestions! Thanks for hosting the linkup too!
Hope it’s okay to give my wonderful friend Amy a plug here. She hosts Monday Praises at http://www.walkhumblywithgod.wordpress.com and is just getting started with her new linkup. I am usually the only one 🙁 If you all would jump over and share the love she would be so thrilled! She is a great Christian gal and a science teacher! Thanks ladies! Blessed Monday! ♥
Love this list, Kendra. Thank you for the reminder to pray specifically for my husband. It is so easy to get distracted amidst the busyness of the day! 🙂 Thank you for the link-up as well!
Hi Kendra, hope you are well. Love your post. I have a prayer book (Chubby Book) and I have one day I specifically pray for my husband. Other days I pray for different things listed like his job, our marriage, etc. as I pray for other things on my list. I think it is so important to pray for our spouse. Glad you are talking about it. Blessings to you.
Hi Kendra…God has been speaking this issue to my heart over the last several weeks, too. Thanks so much for putting public words to an important avenue of ministry from a wife to her husband. God bless you and your marriage and family. Thanks again for the link up.
These are all excellent prayers for our husband! Thanks for the Bible-honoring post and for hosting, and God bless!
Deliberate prayers for our husbands brings deliberate results. We can pray our visions for them to manifestation. Thanks a lot for sharing and hosting too. Do have a super blessed week!
Love
Thank you for hosting! Linking up for the first time this week, as I happened to have written an article that I think fits a few days ago :).
I think I know which one that is 🙂
Glad you could join us this week!
I loved this post, Kendra! It’s something I’ve been thinking a lot about lately, too!
