With spring just around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about the garden.
Even if you only have room for a very small garden I would still recommend planting one.
If you don’t want to till a garden in your backyard you can do like our neighbor and plant peppers and squash right in your front flower bed! Or if you are like a friend of mine who lives in an apartment, many plants do well in window boxes.
There are three reasons hubby and I plant a garden.
#1 When you can grow your own food you know the quality of it. You know that your tomatoes are truly vine ripened. You know that there were no chemicals or pesticides sprayed on your food, and, fresher is always better!
#2 Good family time! I actually do not enjoy getting my hands all muddy, but there truly is something about a spring day…. All the birds are singing their little hearts out, the cool breeze teasing one’s hair, the warm sun smiling down, and the beautiful togetherness of a man and his help-meet planting the earth.
If you have kids, here’s another bonus; kids love to get dirty! Not to mention the great teaching tools that growing a garden can offer.
#3 The savings! There is no way to figure out how much we save each year, just by growing our own food.
So who else is dreaming of Spring and a Garden? Let me know, we’ll dream together!
I view something genuinely interesting about your blog so I saved to my bookmarks .
