Striving to be thankful everyday. No matter what situation I find myself in, I would like to find at least one thing to be thankful for...

It’s the end of November. I’m pretty sure that at this point everyone (except for the Scrooges), has dove into their Christmas prepping.  Thanksgiving is over and so is the “season of thankfulness”. Now everyone is thinking of what they “need”, but should it be that way? I would like to be thankful everyday. Colossians 3:15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. […]

The idea of being thankful for death is absolutely crazy, and yet, I find that death is actually a good thing.

When death comes, those of us who are living are never thankful for it. 1 Corinthians 15:55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? Okay, to be honest, death isn’t something that would fall into the normal thankful list. In fact, anyone who has lost loved ones will think I am crazy for being thankful for death. And maybe they’re right. To be real honest, I’m not at all thankful for losing any of my […]

Christ came to give us abundant life, for this I am eternally thankful.

I was given life on this earth for a reason; that I may obtain eternal life through Christ Jesus and share him with others. John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. The life have been given here on earth is good. I’ve been blessed with grandparents, parents, siblings, a wonderful husband, a sweet baby, a […]

In a land of plenty, why is there so much waste of food and why are people going hungry?

In a country where an average of 30% of our food is wasted, people still go hungry. 1 Timothy 6:8 And having food and raiment let us be there with content. It’s truly a shame that in a land of plenty, there are still empty stomachs. It’s a crying shame. We are very blessed. We have a small garden and are able to use it to the best possible advantage, we are also able to share some of our produce […]

With 1% of the U.S. homeless each year, I am very thankful to have a home. 30 days day 26.

I am thankful. Thankful to have a safe dwelling place, and the people that make it home. Psalms 90:1-2 Lord thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations. Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou are God. According to a study found on national homeless .org, 1 in a 100 people will experience homelessness each year in the U.S.. Approximately 39% of that number […]

Two kinds of freedom: 1kind only a few have, but the other kind, anyone can have

In America, the amount of freedom we have is such a blessing. John 8:36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. In America Christians can join together for worship without fear. We can meet in each others homes, we can meet in church houses, we can even meet in public places like a park. We don’t need to fear authorities, or what may happen if they enter our place of worship, in fact they […]

Being thankful for good health should be an everyday thing!

If we can be thankful for sickness, we can be doubly thankful for health. Revelations 21:2 In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. God created our bodies with the amazing ability to heal itself.  What man has done to the earth, […]

Is it possible to be thankful for sickness?

Is sickness ever a good thing? Is it possible to be thankful for something so unpleasant? John 9:2-3 His disciples asked him, saying Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind? Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him. To start with, here’s the thing about being sick: Since we have mortal bodies that will eventually die, sickness is inevitable.  […]

What is a lively hope and why am I so thankful for it?

Hope by definition means “to cherish a desire with anticipation”. 1 Peter 1:3-4 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you. We have a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Because I enjoy looking up root […]

Have you ever seen a glass blower at work? Unless the glass is hot, he cannot shape it, likewise our trials make it so God can shape us

At first I wasn’t sure if I wanted to include trials in my list of things to be thankful for. 1 Peter 1:7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: No matter who you are, or where you are in life, trials happen. Thankful for the Church of God

The Greek “ekklesia”, is literally translated to mean assembly, congregation, or a place where such gatherings occur. It is used for both “a church” (place) and “The Church” (bride of Christ). Acts 14:27 And when there were come, and had gathered the church together, they rehearsed all that God had done with them, and how he had opened the door of faith unto the Gentiles. There are many different congregations that go by many different names, but there is one […]

Love on a cross. 30 Days of Thanksgiving day 19

Where would we be without love? Matthew 22:37-39  Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. Love can be conditional or unconditional. As a child, our love is conditional. We respond in kind to those who love us. It’s easy after all […]

Living by Grace

Grace: It is mercy given to those who don’t deserve it. Romans 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. Our salvation is a direct result of God’s good will and favor towards us.  We don’t deserve anything from him, but we have been given grace. Titus 2:11 states that grace is available to all men. In spite of the fact that we do not deserve anything but eternal […]

For without faith ye can do nothing

Faith is most likely the foundation of our relationship with God. Luke 17:6 And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you. Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a […]

The law shows us our need for salvation

Every born again child of God thanks him for the gift of salvation. Exodus 15:2 The LORD is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; my father’s God, and I will exalt him. Like I pointed out yesterday, we are thankful for the law because it shows us who God is and who we are. It shows us just how far away from God we really […]

The law, is it something to be thankful for?

It may seem strange for the law (which was fulfilled by Christ) to be mentioned as something to be thankful for… but read on. Romans 7:7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet. Without the law, we would not know sin. We would be as a dumb beast fulfilling selfish needs […]

In nature we find the fingerprints of God

Man was created in the image of God. However, it seems that we see the most of God in the nature that surrounds us. Genesis 2:4 These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens. On a clear night we can tilt our heads back and look towards the heavens. The magnitude of stars that you can see is just overwhelming. […]

What is there to be thankful for in Winter?

Winter. Cold, white, barren. Job 38:4 Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding. (vs22) Hast thou entered into the treasures of the snow? Winter is a time of rest, the land lies frozen under a blanket of snow and sleeps.  Many animals use this time to hibernate as well. If one were to look out the window in the winter it could be a somewhat depressing scene. Grey skies, bare trees, […]

The bounty of fall, ~30 day of thanksgiving

Fall, is a time for harvest. Genesis 8:22 While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease. Personally, I love fall. After the intense heat of summer, it’s such a wonderful relief to begin experiencing cooler weather again. On a fall morning, one may wake up to a light frost on the ground, the sun still shines warmly, but the air is cool. You walk outside and […]

Thankful for summer 30 Days of thankfulness day 11

Summer is a time for growing. Psalms 74:16-17  The day [is] thine, the night also [is] thine: thou hast prepared the light and the sun.  Thou hast set all the borders of the earth: thou hast made summer and winter.
