Childbirth. A beautiful and terrible act. For pain and suffering to go hand in hand with bliss and rejoicing is nothing short of a miracle and that, of course, is exactly what birth is. We just welcomed our third son into the family and while I’ve not made time for blogging since the first of this year, writing is how I come to terms with things and so I’m writing again. Writing and sharing the birth story of our little […]

Weeping may last for a night, but joy comes in the morning!

Weeping may endure for a night, but Joy comes in the Morning. Psalms 30:5 When Plans don’t go as Planned, and Accepting a Different Plan are parts one and two of my birth story, today I’m finishing the story with Joy Comes in the Morning. After I had been given some pain meds through my IV I fell into a fitful sleep. This sleep was interrupted around 6pm with a very very painful contraction. The midwife came in to check […]

I then went in for blood work the second time. Jason went […]

When plans don't go as planned

What do you do when plans don’t go as planned?  As many of you know, I had planned on a home birth. I had planned on going into labor naturally, being able to labor in my own clothes, go outside to take a walk if needed, lay in my own comfy bed if I wanted, and finally crawl into my pool for the rest of my labor and delivery.
