March 22, 2020 by Kendra 2 Comments

There is no better way to introduce the joy of growing things, and incidentally, get kids eating healthy than to get them involved with growing their food. Set aside a small garden plot, or prepare a container garden, and try this easy vegetable garden to share the joy of gardening with kids. By starting with a simple bed of salad greens, radishes and carrots, kids can see the seeds they planted sprout and grow and can harvest and prepare a […]

What’s the Point in Taking Kids to Church?

Disclaimer: A Proverbs 31 Wife uses Affiliate links and ads to support this site. Read full disclosure here.

June 7, 2017 by Kendra 9 Comments

What's the point in taking kids to church? Here's my reason!

Memorial day weekend was our annual church conference and with 2 small tykes in tow, there were multiple times my head just hung down and I wondered what’s the point in taking kids to church? In fact I wondered why I was even trying. Most of my time in church was spent hushing little ones and picking up the few toys we allow them to bring. Then picking up bookmarks and pens, because kids will make toys out of anything. […]

36 Simple Chores for 2 and 3 year olds to do around the house. All kids are different. My 1 year old is content to play for hours, my almost 3 year old has never been one to play for long. He likes to be right with me and some days I’m hard pressed to keep him entertained.  As a result, I’ve discovered simple chores that he can do with me as a way to keep him busy . Having […]

Look Into Their Eyes – Plus Living Proverbs 31 Linkup

February 26, 2017 by Kendra 6 Comments

Look into their eyes. Looking into your child's eyes helps build a connection between parent and child and encourages healthy communication.

As a mom I have a bad habit. When I’m scolding a child, or upset with the boys, I tend to look over their heads, or even have my eyes nearly shut as I scold/complain/give a command etc. But what I really need to do is look into their eyes. When you don’t look into a their eyes, a disconnect is happening. You can yell, scold, complain, whatever and you have no idea how it makes your child feel. Your child […]

Perfect Parents Wanted

June 19, 2016 by Kendra 4 Comments

In reading through Facebook the past few months, and really the past few years, something has become quite clear to me. Two somethings to be exact. #1. There are a lot of perfect parents out there. and #2. I’m definitely not one of them. So I’m writing Perfect Parents Wanted to advertise for a few of them. Why am I looking for perfect parents? Well, it’s easy. There are parents out there who knew exactly what they would’ve done to keep […]

The Importance of What your Child Reads

May 4, 2016 by Kendra 3 Comments

The importance of what your child reads and how to easily find safe books for them.

As a parent, I’m sure you realize the importance of what your child reads. As a child, my mother was very careful about our reading material. While I didn’t appreciate it at the time, I am thankful now. What a child, reads and perceives is vital to the molding and forming of his character. A wise parent will censor their child’s reading material, but sometimes it’s hard. A distant cousin of mine, a young lady with a similar upbringing as […]

January 31, 2016 by Kendra 6 Comments

Ever looked around you and realized things were a bit crazy? Lately I’ve been thinking that it’s time to begin embracing the crazy now! You see, things aren’t always going to be like this. In fact, it’s likely things are going to become a lot MORE crazy before they start calming down. I have ONE kid right now and think it’s crazy. You mammas with 5 and 6 kids are probably laughing and well you should! I love my current […]

Pride Kept Me From Having Babies +Linkup

September 6, 2015 by Kendra 16 Comments

We were married 5 years before getting pregnant. This was by choice. Looking back I can see how pride kept me from having babies before we did. When we got married, I took my small savings and paid off Jason’s truck. You could say we started at square one in financial terms. Without government help there was no possible way to live on Jason’s income. He had a good job and he worked hard, his income paid our bills with nothing left […]

We are Not Immune to Sin

May 26, 2015 by Kendra 13 Comments

We are not immune to sin.

I typically stay away from controversial subjects, the Duggar issue included. But there are thoughts burning in my heart that I can no longer stay quiet about. The devil is having a heyday right now, he has exposed skeletons, turned Christians on each other and proven once again that we are all fallen, sin-prone beings. Even though we are saved, and live in the spirit, our spirit dwells in a very human body. And that, brings me to this: My […]

God doesn’t Care if You Don’t Vaccinate ~ True Health

February 20, 2015 by Kendra 1 Comment

God doesn't care if you don't vaccinate. Instead, there is something else that is far more important to him and your children.

Social media and the media in general are all buzzing at the moment. People are terrified of the 120+ measles cases nationwide last month. The vaccine controversy has worn me out and I have a statement to make. Ultimately, God doesn’t care if you don’t vaccinate (or if you do to be honest). For that matter, I don’t earn “brownie points” with God for feeding my family mostly organic. He’s not going to love my cloth diapered child more than […]

Doomed to a Messy House and Public Tantrums?

Disclaimer: A Proverbs 31 Wife uses Affiliate links and ads to support this site. Read full disclosure here.

January 11, 2015 by Kendra 14 Comments

As a mom, am I doomed to a messy house an dpublic tantrums? According to most of the parnenting stuff out there it sounds like I am, but here's the deal...

Parenting today. It’s hard. According to 75% of what I read online about, as a parent, I’m doomed to a messy house and public tantrums. Oh yes, I will also be fixing separate meals to cater to each of my children; and of course I will be cooking them, because if I try going out to eat at a restaurant, I can be sure the little brats, er, darlings will be running wild all over the place. We won’t get […]

Mom's Lunchtime: I think she's supposed to be eating, but it doesn't seem to be happening... why?

Mom’s lunchtime: Right before that blessed period called naptime, in which all moms look forward to a little peace and quiet; occurs a tragedy called lunchtime. This time of day is most taxing, and all moms who make it through, deserve a medal for bravery. However, the only badge most mom’s get for surviving mom’s lunchtime, is in the form of refused and flying food. Mom’s Lunchtime ~A Tragedy: Cast: A frazzled mom. A colicky baby. A busy toddler. God in the Small Things

September 3, 2014 by Kendra Leave a Comment

The God we serve is an awesome God. He is strong and mighty, great and powerful. It’s easy to tilt one’s head back and look at the expanse of the night sky, or to gaze in awe at the mighty fountains and see God. But do you see God in the small things? It’s always easy to see God in the mighty, but God is in the small things too. There are many different sides to this God that we […]

Peaceful music for writing. When you need soothing, relaxing music, these songs are the best!

Awhile ago I came across a site with the most beautiful scripture lullabies. The music is intended for children, however I find it to be peaceful music for writing. Before you read on I would love for you to click play on the video below. While that music is playing you can continue reading. May 10, 2013 by Kendra 19 Comments

The high calling of motherhood. Being a mom looks scary, and not because of the stretch marks, sleepless nights and never having a moment to ones self again. There's more to it than that. #mother'sday #motherhood #mommy

I’m not a mom yet, but I have to admit it looks scary.  I wanted to talk about the high calling of motherhood for a couple of reasons. With Mother’s day coming up, and hubby really wanting us to start a family, I just keep coming back to this subject in my mind. The High Calling of Motherhood: Being a mom looks scary to me. Not because of stretch marks, wrinkles and grey hairs; I already have a few of […]

Let me hold your hand

She was such a cute little mite, trying to walk in the grass that was up to her knees over the uneven ground. With her snacks in one hand and a leaf in the other, she had a hard time keeping her balance. I reach out to help her; to take one of the items she is carrying so I can hold her hand. She pulls back. She doesn’t want me to help her. Let me hold your hand, I […]
