A couple weeks ago at bible study the hostess served sausage egg muffins. They were delicious and we all wanted the recipe. After reading it I realized that my toddler shouldn’t have ate them since they contained wheat, but figured I could make gluten free sausage egg muffins pretty easily. I was correct. In no time at all, I had 2 pans of gluten free sausage egg muffins cooling on the counter. Kolton and I ate them for lunch. When […]

How to freezer cook using recipes your family loves. A simple flowchart that lays all the steps out for you making it simple to fill your freezer with meals for a month!

I’ve never really freezer-cooked before, most plans didn’t suit me and it looked huge. Then I found OAMM. Today I’m sharing how to freezer cook with your favorite recipes and how I did it in just a day. Most of the freezer meals I see on Pinterest aren’t allergy friendly or just contain ingredients I don’t use. I’ve also felt they were quite confusing and it just didn’t make a lot of sense. Often I would stick to making large batches […]

How to freeze peppers for recipes

I love peppers. Not raw, but in different dishes. Chillies, spaghetty, stir-fry and other dishes all get a dose of peppers. Bell peppers are my favorite, but bananas and the occassional hot pepper get added as well. Since it’s way to expensive to buy peppers in the winter, I thought I would share how to to freeze peppers today. Since I literally froze a bunch yesterday, I took photos just for you! (you’re welcome 😉 ) How to Freeze Peppers! […]

How to freeze fresh green beans from your garden.

I don’t know about you, but our little garden did very well this year and we were blessed with lots of green beans. I canned quite a bit, and canning is ideal because they keep well this way and there is no worries about loosing food if the electric goes out. However, we are huge fans of frozen green beans. They just taste so much better! I took some photos of the relatively simple process and thought I would would […]

How we save money growing food. A look at what we saved in the past year, even though we only have a small garden.

Whether you have a huge backyard with lots of space for a garden, or a small deck with just a limited amount of space, you can save money growing food. The other week I shared how we make a small garden work for us. How we make sure to plant things like tomatoes, green beans, cabbage, and other plants that don’t take up a lot of room but still produce nicely. Household investments that save money. Sometimes to save money, you need to spend a little. Here are a few of my must-haves for living frugal.

We try to live frugally around here, but that doesn’t mean we never spend money. In fact, there have been times where we’ve made rather large investments that save money. In some cases they quickly pay for themselves monetarily, in other cases, the side benefits help pay for them too. When you want to save money, it can be hard to “let” yourself spend a lot of money on an item when maybe you could get something else a little […]

How to easily make your own pumpkin puree. Great way to put those pumpkins to use!

Why go to the store and buy canned pumpkin when you can make your own pumpkin puree? I mean after all, didn’t you just go and buy pumpkins to sit on your front porch, that normally get tossed in a month? And don’t you think the stores charge way too much for a tiny can of that orange stuff? It’s really easy to make your own pumpkin puree and about the only way I can justify buying one of those […]
