Deliciously healthy whole wheat lemon bars recipe! The perfect, not-too-sweet, not-too-sour treat!

Who wants a recipe for healthy whole wheat lemon bars? I did! Problem is, I couldn’t find one.  I’m guessing it’s because lemons are so sour, that they need a good deal of sugar, and lots of sugar means not healthy.  So look as I might, all I found were great and yummy sounding recipes that called for highly processed flours and sugars. Drawing inspiration of off about 3 different recipes I made a batch. Meh… still to much sugar, […]

Are toxins to blame for many chronic illnesses? Why you should detox and how you can safely

Why should you detox? How can you detox? Pregnancy safe ways to detox. Why should you Detox? I once heard that if the liver isn’t healthy, then nothing else in the body can work right. The liver’s job is to filter toxins from your blood, but when there are so many toxins being put into your body, at some point the liver itself becomes toxic. When your liver is toxic, it is no longer able to filter toxins from your […]

October 30, 2013 by Kendra 10 Comments

My food dehydrator review, or why I chose and excalibur.

A month or two ago I bought a dehydrator and have been using it a lot. So today I thought I would share my food dehydrator review.  I had been wanting a dehydrator for a long time and had been saving for one; although I had hopes of finding a nice one at a garage sale. My mom had bought a 9 tray Excalibur dehydrator and while I found it nice, I thought it was more than I could afford […]

May 4, 2013 by Kendra 11 Comments

A juicing revolution. If you remember at the start of my juicing, I referenced the Reboot with Joe website. Another blogger had mentioned that site as a great source of info and I really liked it.  That site was where I went for encouragement to continue, where I went to ask questions, (there was a nutritionist forum that I asked several questions at) and where I went to celebrate. There was one aspect that I missed though. I think I […]

After Your Juice Fast Ends

April 19, 2013 by Kendra 5 Comments

After your juice fast ends, now what? What foods should you start adding in? #juicing #fasting #weightloss

After your juice fast ends; you may be left with a sudden “Now What?” feeling. However, the transition can be as easy or difficult as you make it. When you begin adding whole foods back into your diet, your body will begin another stage of the cleansing process. You may notice while juicing, that you don’t need to “poo” very much. After all, the only thing that is going in, is liquid. Making sense, therefore, that the main thing to […]

It’s been nearly a week now since I’ve started eating solids again. Because I’ve been eating a lot of salad, I thought I would share my homemade tomato basil vinaigrette recipe with you all. What does it cost to juice fast?

What does it cost to juice fast? I’m nearing the end of my juice fast, and since it’s also the end of the month I was making sure all my accounts looked good.  I thought I would share with you how much it cost to juice fast. As close as I can figure anyway. 🙂 Your first cost would be a juicer. My (ad) Breville Juice Fountain cost me $99. You can read my full review of it here where […]

get the most out of your juicer. Breville

Today I thought I would share a review and how to get the most out of your juicer. When I was learning about juicing, it seemed the majority of people recommended a Breville. So I went shopping for a Breville. 🙂 I found several on Amazon but because the moo-la is tight (when isn’t it?) I went with the Breville BJE200XL Compact Juice Fountain 700-Watt Juice Extractor, it’s $99.99 with free shipping. Honestly, I love my juicer. But if I […]

favorite juicing recipe

I’ve made it through 3 weeks of the juice fast! And I thought I would share my favorite juicing recipe with you all. My favorite juicing recipe: It’s super easy to make, you will need:(makes 2 servings) 2 pears 2 fennel bulbs 2-4 cups of spinach The original recipe called for just the pear and fennel, but because you should have a 80-20 percent ratio of veggies to fruits, I decided to “hide” some spinach in it. The taste is […]

Juicing is Not Just Another Diet!

March 20, 2013 by Kendra 16 Comments

Juicing is not just another diet!

I’ve tried diets, I’ve tried exercise, but Juicing is not just another diet. No, it’s not. If juicing were just another diet, things would be a lot different. Not just another Diet: On diets, it’s sometimes confusing. You can have this, you cannot have that. You can have this, if it don’t have that in it. You can eat this, but if you do, then you won’t be able to eat something else later. You’re counting calories, reading labels, running […]

How to keep greens fresh longer. #fresh #greens

Since I’ve started on this juice fast, I’ve been going through a lot of fruits and vegetables using my juicer . So today I thought I would share how I keep my greens fresh longer. How to Keep Greens Fresh Longer: I can go through a bunch of spinach in one day. A bunch of kale disappears in about 5 days. Even though we can literally walk to Meijer, I didn’t want to be running to the store every 2nd […]

March 16, 2013 by Kendra 4 Comments

Week 2 of the Juice Fast

I’ve now been on this juice fast for 14 days, two weeks! My original plan was only 15 days, but since I still have weight to lose, I’m keeping on. The gal who first inspired me to try juicing had done a juice fast for 60 days! I told myself 60 days wasn’t possible but I wanted to learn more. I’m glad I looked into it a little better. 15 days didn’t seem bad and it wasn’t. In fact, if […]

juicing survival tips ands tricks

I’ve reached day 11 and at this point in the original reboot plan I should be slowly headed back to whole foods and not juice. However, I think I will keep on juicing a little bit longer. I’ve discovered a few juicing survival tips, and I still want to lose a few more pounds. So, I plan to continue juicing until I have lost at least 20 pounds.
