Garage sale ideas for a smashing success!

I’m a thrifter, and that means I love finding good deals! Admittedly, sometimes it’s actually cheaper to buy new than second hand, but that’s part of the fun. Finding those good deals! So today I have for you: Garage Sale Ideas. I like to hit garage sales during the spring and summer months. They are a great way to get things you need (or think you need) without spending a ton of money. I grew up going to garage sales […]

This is a great idea of what to do with old magazines! Keep what you want, toss what you don't!

Have you ever wondered what to do with old magazines? I mean there they are, on the shelf, in a basket, spilling off the coffee table, and when you went to the mail box today, there was another one to be added to the pile. We don’t get very many now, but we use too. I used to get cooking magazines, and better homes and gardens. Jason would get readers digest, outdoor life, hunting and fishing, handyman, and goodness know […]

Investments that Save Money ~Spend to Save?

Household investments that save money. Sometimes to save money, you need to spend a little. Here are a few of my must-haves for living frugal.

We try to live frugally around here, but that doesn’t mean we never spend money. In fact, there have been times where we’ve made rather large investments that save money. In some cases they quickly pay for themselves monetarily, in other cases, the side benefits help pay for them too. When you want to save money, it can be hard to “let” yourself spend a lot of money on an item when maybe you could get something else a little […]

Natural Stainless Steel Polish. Just one more chemical cleaner that you can get rid of!

How about another natural homemaking hack y’all? Want a natural stainless steel polish that you probably already have in your home? I personally dislike stainless steel. It seems to show far more than a white appliance does unless you buy the smear free kind. (way to much $$ for us!) Anyway, some how or the other we ended up with a couple stainless appliances and try as I might, I couldn’t get them shiny. I could get them clean but […]

Glass Stove Top Cleaner. Using baking powder to clean stove top plus other uses.

Due to chemical sensitives, I am always looking for natural cleaners. Today I’m sharing my homemaking hack for a natural, glass stove top cleaner. It’s very simple and calls for one ingredient: Baking Soda! Baking soda is a wonderful cleaning agent. It naturally cleans, buffs and shines a glass stove top.  The photo below shows a messy stove top after a day of making and canning salsa. I sprinkle the baking soda on, wet a soft scrubber and start rubbing. […]
