The Power of Hope in the Darkness

April 11, 2019 by Kendra 9 Comments

Power of Hope in Darkness Have you ever considered the power of hope when you’re in the dark? Whether your current darkness is an illness, lost job, overwhelm from life, whatever, it’s likely that hope is the only thing keeping you going. I’m not going to sugarcoat the truth. I think most of us struggle with depression and darkness at least once in our lifetime. For some, the darkness is there more than the light, but you just hang on. […]

Have you ever been in a place where you just feel frustrated, maybe defeated, and possibly even a bit depressed? I’ve been there. Lately everything has just piled on top of me. Sometimes everything seems wrong It’s winter, and winter and my mood rarely get along well. My baby is nearly 5 months, still grumpy a lot of the time and still waking at least once in the night to eat. Each time he wakes I’m up with him 20 […]

7 Things every new wife should know. Life, marriage and men.

Are you a new wife, or do you have a few years of experience under your belt? Today’s guest poster is sharing 7 things every new wife should know. Most days I still feel like a new wife. I mean, I’m pretty sure it was just yesterday we were on our honeymoon and I couldn’t wait to get home and start turning that little rented duplex into a homey haven for the new hubs and I. Your Powerful Words

August 9, 2015 by Kendra 12 Comments

How do you use your powerful words? Did you know your mouth carries the most powerful weapon in the world?

What do you do with your powerful words? Do you use them to encourage? To uplift? To Build up? Or are you using your powerful words to shame, scorn and destroy? It’s amazing how many words the average person speaks, hears, and even reads a day. Words which standing alone, have little meaning, but strung into sentences and paragraphs have the power to make or destroy someone’s day. Words like “love, good, wow, impressive, beautiful, and precious” build up and endear. […]

Monday encouragement to start your week

Who’s ready to start a new week? No? How about a little Monday Encouragement? Just like I’ve realized that many times God is the author of my posts, I’m also learning that God writes a lot of blogs. 🙂 The two posts I’m featuring both carry the same sentiment of God’s Love for us. Monday Encouragement Showered in Grace talks about letting your inner beauty shine. She compares the unique beauty of vintage jewelry to each on of us. A […]

June 14, 2015 by Kendra 2 Comments

Here are three inspirational women of the old testament that you may want to meet. Be inspired by the barren, a wife, and a harlet.

The bible is filled with people. Characters who delight, and inspire, as well as those who repulse and disgust. Lately I’ve thought of those who inspire, especially inspirational women of the old testament. There are many women mentioned in the old testament. But some are especially inspiring to me as a woman today. 3 Inspirational Women of the Old Testament Hannah, the mother of Samuel. I’ve always loved Hannah’s story. Her husband loved her dearly but she couldn’t give him […]

An Empty House | What We Leave Behind

May 6, 2015 by Kendra

Beautiful old home in the Ohio Valley

Last Sunday we went though an empty house. Built in the 1800’s, this home was clearly a beauty back in its day. The story goes that the family sent their 15 year old son on horse back from PA to OH with instructions to find land that could be farmed and a good water source. He came back saying he found farmland with good water and a place to make bricks. So the entire family packed up and moved to […]

May 3, 2015 by Kendra 9 Comments

I have always had someone on my side and you do too!

In light of the tragedy in Baltimore, a few photos began circulating the internet. While the news is showing us the horrible, scary side of these riots, a few people were posting photos that shared hope. One photo in particular, stood out. In fact, it stood out so much that it went viral within just a few hours. It was so perfect, this beautiful, positive photo that shone brighter than all the negative news of that day. I shared it […]

March 8, 2015 by Kendra 15 Comments

Are you living fully aware of those around you?

Are you living fully aware, or are you walking around so caught up in yourself that you are missing out? I know I am very guilty of doing just that. I’m stressed, or busy, or so focused on what I’m doing that I’ve totally missed out on something important. I cannot count the times I miss out on life because I’m so busy just “doing life“. Guys (and gals) I want that to stop! It’s time to start Living Fully […]

God doesn’t Care if You Don’t Vaccinate ~ True Health

Disclaimer: A Proverbs 31 Wife uses Affiliate links and ads to support this site. Read full disclosure here.

February 20, 2015 by Kendra 1 Comment

God doesn't care if you don't vaccinate. Instead, there is something else that is far more important to him and your children.

Social media and the media in general are all buzzing at the moment. People are terrified of the 120+ measles cases nationwide last month. The vaccine controversy has worn me out and I have a statement to make. Ultimately, God doesn’t care if you don’t vaccinate (or if you do to be honest). For that matter, I don’t earn “brownie points” with God for feeding my family mostly organic. He’s not going to love my cloth diapered child more than […]

Accepting the fact that I cannot do it all and learning to allow grace in my homemaking.

I cannot do it all, folks. Nope. I would like to think that I can; I even tell myself that I can at least half a dozen times a day. “Get your chin up, you can do this Kendra!”  But the truth is, I cannot do it all. Here’s the thing, when you try to do it all, you basically fail at it all. Okay, so maybe you don’t fail, but you certainly cannot do as well as you possibly […]

Caring for Our Own, or Others?

Disclaimer: A Proverbs 31 Wife uses Affiliate links and ads to support this site. Read full disclosure here.

December 9, 2014 by Kendra 4 Comments

Are we caring for our own, or ignoring them while we "do some noble deed" to care for those far away?

The church fellowship that I grew up with didn’t support missions. They did support the idea of caring for our own in our church, but if a member wished to become a missionary, there was no support for them from the church. As a young teen I felt God calling me to be a missionary. I didn’t know where to go with it though and due to the fellowship we were a part of at the time, my parents were […]

Speak No Evil ~Why do We Tear Each Other Down?

September 14, 2014 by Kendra 6 Comments

A challenge to speak no evil. To guard our thoughts and our lips so that nothing negative comes out.

Why is it that we as a culture and especially us women tear each other down? It’s like this huge contest of who is right and who is wrong. No more do we “prefer one another” it’s every man for himself; in thoughts, words, and actions. I want to challenge myself and you readers to “speak no evil”.   Remember the 3 monkeys? The ones that say “Hear no evil” “See no evil” and “Speak no evil”?  In this day […]

Praying for Your Future Husband

July 6, 2014 by Kendra 3 Comments

Why is praying for your future husband so important? In this world of temptations and snares, don't wait until you are married to pray for your man, instead...

My marriage post today is a bit different than usual. But I know there are many young ladies who read this site as well and I wanted to talk to them today. Dear single ladies, are you praying for your future husband? Not as in “Lord send me a man!” but praying for his soul.  I remember reading Proverbs 31 as a young woman and the 12th verse really stood out to me. She will do him good and not […]

What do I stand for? a reminder to look at one's self and determine who you are and what you stand for.

Give us clear vision, that we may know where to stand and what to stand for – because unless we stand for something, we shall fall for anything. ~ Peter Marshall, US Senate Chaplain 1947 Have you ever looked at yourself and asked “What do I stand for?” Have you ever seriously considered what your actions are telling the world? Sometimes I just go along with the flow and forget, that I as a Christian truly do stand for something […]
