How well do your really know your enemy? Is your assumed enemy really against you or is it something far more sinister?

Most people would say they have an enemy, and maybe more than one. I have to wonder though, do they really know their enemy? And if they really knew their enemy, would they still be enemies? Here’s the interesting thing about enemies and fighting/disagreeing with each other. We all basically want the same things; to be heard and valued, and to make this world a better place. Seriously, that’s it. The problem comes in when we disagree on how to make […]

What Does Hospitality Look Like?

April 10, 2016 by Kendra 7 Comments

What does hospitality look like to you? Does it involve days of hard work or is it a more simple affair?

Close your eyes and imagine a person whom you love to visit, a house where you simply feel welcome and at home, a place of hospitality. Now tell me, what does hospitality look like to you? Does it look like Pinterest, with perfect decor, beautiful table settings and picture perfect food? Does your friend appologize for a non-existent mess as she ushers you inside across gleaming floors? Are there games and activities lined up, or the perfect little place to […]

God Doesn’t Love Me Anymore

March 13, 2016 by Kendra 13 Comments

Have you ever had a friend come to you completely broken and say "God doesn't love me anymore"? How do you answer that. how do you respond when that's the cry of your own heart?

“God doesn’t love me anymore”, came the broken voice over my phone. Once again hopes had been brutally dashed and this time it just seemed too hard to bear. My heart hurt so badly for her and in that moment, I wanted to agree. If God truly loved this child of his, he wouldn’t keep letting her down like this right? I mean this was the moment she had worked and labored towards for many years and now that moment […]

Apparently in America: All Lives (don’t) Matter

November 16, 2015 by Kendra 7 Comments

Slight disclaimer here: I’m breaking away from my normal avoidance of controversy here. It’s time we woke up and looked beyond ourselves. My heart is breaking. Just Breaking. Lives lost, families torn apart, and nations torn asunder. In America it’s very common to see and hear #BlackLivesMatter. This is responded to with #MexicanLivesMatter #AsianLivesMatter #CopLivesMatter and the favorite fall-back #AllLivesMatter as everyone tries to make sure they are fairly represented. I agree, All Lives DO Matter. We are made in […]

The Best Years of My Life? I’m Giving them Away

Disclaimer: A Proverbs 31 Wife uses Affiliate links and ads to support this site. Read full disclosure here.

November 8, 2015 by Kendra 6 Comments

I’m giving away the best years of my life y’all. Giving them to a demanding toddler who needs much training and guidance. I’m giving away the best of my body as I’m growing little lives inside me and nourishing them outside of me. Instead of doing what I want, chasing personal dreams, and working on my “life bucket list” I’m at the beck and call of a family. These are the best years of my life and I’m just giving […]

Avoiding Controversial Subjects – Living Proverbs 31

August 23, 2015 by Kendra 16 Comments

Does avoiding controversial subjects online make you a coward? Sometimes the internet is a scary place and it needs the peace makers too.

You may have noticed my overall avoidance of controversial subjects here at A Proverbs 31 Wife. I have very strong beliefs on most subjects and yet I constantly find myself carefully Avoiding Controversial Subjects or tip-toeing around most of them. This has bothered me for some time. Am I avoiding speaking truth because I want others to like me? Am I not posting controversial stuff because I’m scared of losing followers? Am I ashamed of the Truth? These questions and many […]

My Heart Hurts ~When “Christians” aren’t Christ-Like

Disclaimer: A Proverbs 31 Wife uses Affiliate links and ads to support this site. Read full disclosure here.

January 16, 2015 by Kendra 4 Comments

Sometimes Christians are not very Christ-Like, and my heart hurts for those that are lost, and it seems like we just get in the way at times.

When I take a good look at humanity, my heart hurts. Especially the humanity that can show itself online. There is no filter, the thoughts of their hearts spew out in black and white for the whole world to see. Anger, rage, envy, jealousy, judgement, it’s all there. I will read an article that really speaks to my heart, maybe I will share it with others, maybe I won’t, but in the comments comes the reflection of humanity. An what […]

Love on a cross. 30 Days of Thanksgiving day 19

Where would we be without love? Matthew 22:37-39  Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. Love can be conditional or unconditional. As a child, our love is conditional. We respond in kind to those who love us. It’s easy after all […]
