What is Truth?
What is truth and who can be trusted. Men sell out for financial gain and politicians lie... Is there anyone that we can trust? Click through to read Truth!

Have you ever wondered What is Truth? Who do I believe? Whose word can I trust?

Do you ever feel totally overwhelmed? The news, your friends, the internet, social media, all screaming “facts” at you and they don’t connect.

I love reading conspiracy theories. As a kid I didn’t realize that’s what they really were called, I just enjoyed reading other people’s ideas of what could’ve happened.

With the age of internet you can find conspiracy theories everywhere, and they are often directly against what the media is telling us. As a result of reading theories and learning what other’s think about different circumstances and events, I’ve come to the following conclusions:

  • Money speaks
  • Every theory has an ounce of truth
  • People cannot be totally trusted

No wonder people are confused. No wonder we don’t know who to trust. No wonder this world is just one messed up place.

What is Truth and Who Can We Trust?

Tweet this! >>> In a World gone crazy, who can we really trust?

Let’s start by looking at those we cannot trust.

Politicians make big promises but rarely follow through all the way. They may have a hundred excuses for why their plan failed, but ultimately their plan failed. We cannot put our hope and trust in politicians.

The pharmaceutical industry uses science and experiments to find “cures”. “Cures” which often create new illnesses and diseases, creating the need for more “cures”. This keeps patients coming back for more and more drugs, often creating addictions. We cannot put our hope and trust in the cures from pharmaceutical industry.

Drs are there to diagnose and treat illnesses. But they are only human and there are so many illnesses that they cannot possibly always be right. They can only go off of what you are saying and what scientific technology is telling them. Thus Drs do make mistakes, but that’s what they have liability ins. for right? We cannot trust a Dr to always be correct in his assessment of our illnesses.

Farmers feed the world, but they also need to feed themselves and their families. Not to mention everything else they want to do. Thus they often take the easiest, cheapest route for growing food and it’s not always the best for our bodies. We cannot trust farmers to really care about the people who eat their crops.

Food corporations have one goal: to meet and supply the demands of consumers. They want to do this in the way that best lines their pockets, regardless of how it can affect our health. We cannot trust food companies to really tell us the truth about their foods.

Ouch! Ultimately it’s every man for himself out here with an exception of a few people who have proven themselves trustworthy to us.

So What Is Truth? Is there Anyone we can REALLY trust?

Revelation 1:8 – I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

Hebrews 13:8 – Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever.

James 1:17 – Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

Ah yes. God. He is the same, never-changing, the great I am, who never goes back on his word. We can trust him!

The promises of God are sure and never-changing.

Psalms 84:11 – For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.

Philippians 4:13 – I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

2 Peter 1:4 – Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

Philippians 4:19 – But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

2 Corinthians 6 :17-18 – Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, and will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

In God we are promised everything we need. Not everything we want, or even everything we think we need, but everything we need. He has promised to never leave or forsake us and he sees even the little sparrows that fall.

The next time you are online and the barrage of opinions, hate, lies, and everything else mankind is capable of, begins to bring you down, remember this:

God is God, and God is still in control.

If we can simply trust that he will work things out for the good (spiritual, not physical) of all who love him, things will suddenly become a simpler. No more trusting on human’s who are failure prone, but trusting in a God who holds us all in the palm of his hand!

So what is truth? I will leave you with this:

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Jesus! My Jesus, and hopefully yours too, HE is the truth!

What is truth and who can be trusted. Men sell out for financial gain and politicians lie... Is there anyone that we can trust? Click through to read Truth!

Thank you for this relevant post Kendra! There are so many voices clamoring loudly, claiming to have truth. Praise God He didn’t leave us down here to flounder in all the deception: If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. James 1:5

Hi Kendra, A most timely and right on post today! “Some men trust in horses, some men trust in chariots; but we will trust in the name of our God!” His word gives us all we need, and He leads us through this life by His grace and mercy. His promises are sure. He alone can we trust.
As far as Dr’s are concerned, why do people think it is called “the practice of medicine”? More and more people have become more and more intolerant of virtually everything; demanding their own way and perfection, even though we human beings are incapable of perfection in ourselves. Unfortunately pride and arrogance rule in this world more and more. But God has the victory and so do those who belong to Him in Christ. “Seek ye first the kingdom of God……” Amen! Even so, come Lord Jesus.
Blessings to you and the family, Carol

Oh that sounds just like my mother! She is always saying “why do you think they call it ‘practicing medicine’?”
Intolerance is definitely an issue today, but I don’t think the sin is any “worse” we just hear and see more of it.

Kendra, thank you for this post. I’ve very frequently wondered the same – who CAN we trust? My only “problem” with trusting the Bible is that it is written by man, according to his interpretation, under the direction of higher priests, and at least once under the direction of a king. How can we trust that whatever version of the Bible we are using is the RIGHT one? I asked a pastor this once and he could only say *we have to trust.* Kind of back to where I started. I will be honest, I broke away from organized religion a number of years ago because I simply could not reconcile myself to such harsh teachings. I’m searching now for truth. I don’t mean to be ugly or confrontational, I sincerely would like to hear your viewpoint, please Thank you so much. Kathleen in IL

Your pastor wasn’t able to give you a good answer I’m afraid. Yes, there is faith involved when it comes to believing in God’s word, but there is so much more than that.

For instance, many ancient historical writings align perfectly with the history we learn from the Christian bible. Josephus is one such writer and while I haven’t read much of his writings, I’ve actually asked for his works for Christmas 🙂

The dead sea scrolls are another such example. Written between 250 B.C. and 68 A.D and discovered in the 1950’s these scrolls contain much history and also scriptures. Scriptures, that when translated into english are nearly identical to the writings in the Old King James version which is the primary version I use.

I think you would find an apologetics study bible to be helpful in your search for truth.

Your comment was neither ugly nor confrontational, I enjoy talking with those who may believe a little differently than I, it’s a great way to learn about not only other’s beliefs but also more about myself.

Yes, we do hear more of it due to the increase in media technology. But I also think people have turned more and more to self as well as more bold in overtly putting self first above any one or any thing else. God says in His word this world would wax worse and worse. It has, it is, and will continue to do so as time goes on. I pray more people will come to believe God’s word, receive Christ as Saviour, and live for Him; to God’s glory and their good. Blessings, Carol

I love this post! I, too, like conspiracy theories. Sometimes it’s just entertainment. Sometimes I’ll really research one to see if there is even that “ounce of truth”. After a while though, I have to get away from it when I find one that is thoroughly sourced. I do it to remind myself that I cannot control a lot of what goes on in our country or this planet. That’s God’s job.

Yes! Some of these so-called conspiracy theories have a LOT of truth to them. (yipes!) And no we cannot control our country or planet, that’s why I’m so thankful to know that God is still in control!

Amen! We are bombarded with so much information, some intentional and some unintentional. In this day and age, when you can google just about anything, it is more important than ever for Christians to be firmly planted in God’s Word.
